one outdrive stuck in the full up position

Hi all. I have had numerous similar problems caused by bad drive solenoids and also bad drive up and down switches. As a surprise, this time it seems that my port drive is stuck up by a seized trim cylinder. Anyone have suggestions on how to coax the drive down? The motor runs in both...

    Slow Lewmar V2 windlass

Now ready to put the gearbox and motor assembly on the bench. Problem is the pesky spiral ring that is on the bottom of the windlass shaft. It's only reason for being there is to keep the drive key from falling out into the anchor locker. I have made no headway to unwind this spiral ring...

    Slow Lewmar V2 windlass

Hi all. W have had our boat since new in 2007, The windlass has been great. Just recently, I noticed that the windlass is slow and seems weak. Not being an electrical wizard, I am asking on the method to test and diagnose the problem. Some have suggested that the trouble could be loose or...

5.7L engine with Bravo II drives stalls in reverse

Hi all. I recently had my starboard engine replaced with a now one. Now sometimes when docking, the engine stalls going into reverse. Of course the power steering is on this engine and shifting into neutral for a restart can't be easily or quickly done. Once clear of the dock, my wife and I...

trim hydraulic fluid leak, coming where the lines pass through transom

Finally after a week of putty knifes and little hammers, Got that bloody manifold off! The trick was a short 2 1/2 pound sledge, putty knifes, and specially made wedges. The darn manifold was not stuck by the gasket, but debris inside the gimbal housing and the studs with corrosion. The...

trim hydraulic fluid leak, coming where the lines pass through transom

HI all. The job is coming along. At the moment, the hydraulic manifold will not detach from the gimbal housing. Either the gasket glue or corrosion has toughened things in the past 14 years. Of course, I have a new manifold and both hoses. I am open to suggestions on the best way to remove...

trim hydraulic fluid leak, coming where the lines pass through transom

Thanks, bright idea. At least it's good to know that it can be done! I have the Mercruiser manual that covers the job. It seems that the mercathode r&r may be the hardest part of the job. We sure thank you for your input. I have been a member of Club Sea Ray for quite a while. When I...

trim hydraulic fluid leak, coming where the lines pass through transom

Thanks, Carp. But sadly the hydraulic fluid is coming through the transom hole. I have ordered some parts, awaiting their arrival before starting in. The boat is up on a 20K Deco lift and I will have to access the manifold, mercathode stuff, and pressure lines from my kayak! Lots of fun to...

trim hydraulic fluid leak, coming where the lines pass through transom

Hi all. I noticed some trim fluid causing a little puddle in my bilge. The reservoir level is down and the fluid is coming into the bilge an the point where the pressure lines come through the transom. Behind the engine and at the low point in the gimbal housing. This boat has twin 250 hp...

Tampa, St Pete, Clearwater boating spots

We weekended at Caladisi at least a half dozen times. Over 100 floating docks and not expensive. Several weekend trips were ruined by no see em attacks in the morning and around sunset. Warm temperatures and no wind cause those darn no see ems to attack with vengeance! As much as we liked it...
