    ProMariner - Jim Mitchell

Jim, I have a Pro Mariner 30 charger which is probably original equipment on my 1995 Sundancer 300. A few days after installing three new batteries, two of the batteries that are on the same bank were dead. I disconnected all of the battery cables and turned on the charger. I get a reading...

    Battery / Charger problem

Thanks for the advice. I also wrote to the manufacturer, Pro Mariner, and they came back with a way to determine if it is the charger or the batteries. Disconnect all battery terminals, connect a voltmeter to the positive DC lead(s) from the charger and turn it on. It should read 14.6 volts...

    Battery / Charger problem

I have a 95 Sundancer 30 with a Pro Mariner 30 charger. When I went to the boat I found the shore power cord had disconnected and the batteries were dead. It was time to replace them so I replaced all three with the same model. When I turned power back on the charger showed no reading on the...

Engine throttle/shift controls for twin engine boat -- question

Eric, I've never used combined throttle/shift controls so I can only speak to the seperate shifters. I like them. When docking or manuevering in a tight space I rarely have to touch the throttles and only use the transmission levers. The only disadvantage is that it takes twice the panel space.

Wiring of shower sump/bilge pump on 300DA

I'm "electrically challenged" and hope someone can clear my confusion! The "shower sump/air conditioner" drain bilge pump needed to be replaced. I bought an identical unit from Jabsco. It calls for a 5 amp fuse and the pump draws 4 amps. That is exactly the same as the pump it is replacing...

    Email from Raymarine re A65

Here is a reply that I received from Raymarine in answer to my questions; 1. What accuracy can I expect if I do not upgrade to the new antenna? 2. Will there eventually be a firmware or software fix? "1. Raymarine is currently planning to post a FAQ advising customers of the RMS accuracy of...

    Email from Raymarine re A65

I just received the following email from Raymarine; "The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently decommissioned two WAAS GPS satellites (PRN 122 and PRN 134) and activated two replacement satellites (PRN 135 and PRN 138). Raymarine’s A65 and A60 do not recognize satellites 135 or 138...

    "Growth" on transmission mounts

Steve, That was also my first thought but the cord is suspended well out of the water and there are no other boats within 100 feet of mine that might have power to them. Don C.

    "Growth" on transmission mounts

I am getting a growth that looks like what you might see on a battery terminal growing on the mounts for the starboard v-drive where they attach to the stringers in the bilge. The port v-drive mounts are spotless. It is obviously electrical related but the zincs are checked and changed...

How can I restore the vinyl?

A few months ago I used Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser pad to clean stains off of the white backrest of the stern seat. It did a great job but now that section looks like the color is disappearing and the section is turning a speckled gray. It does not come off and I am afraid that the Magic Eraser...
