Hi Robert. I can't image short of incredible structural removal that there's any other way in. I recently had to replace mine after the temporary un-seizing I wrote about up above. It's not too bad the way I figured it out. It is work done on your back with your arms up. I built a platform...
Update: Mercury OEM 8M6000623, SmartCraft SEA PUMP CKT alarm, Engine water pressure pegged or reads zero.
I have just had my fourth senor alarm and associated power limitation in three seasons for water pressure on engines that are clearly working fine. BOTTOM LINE: Tap water pressure...
With help from you, I’ve installed my Raymarine Evolution EV 150 autopilot system. Pics show where everything went.
Lessons learned. 1. Hydraulic fluid goes everywhere. Thought I had a Sea Star helm leak under the reservoir but it was hydraulic fluid seeping down from the the filler cap area...
Thanks, Very helpful. To access the SDA 340 galley and head blower fan vent motor, enter the mid cabin port cabinet, and remove the shelving (6 screws) and back panel (4 screws). It is up to the right connected to the hull directly inside the forward of the two outboard vents on the port side...
Realize this was a while back, but how did you get the cabinet disassembled? I took a look in there yesterday chasing the same inop fan but saw no screws or fittings to go after in the cabinet. Thanks!
Underneath my HIN: SERT4313D404, is a second number, 340 SD A 1528. Is it this second "1528" that applies to the parts number discussion above? Or "4313" in the HIN? Thanks.
Removing the SmartCraft panel, four screws, (and not the gauges dash) and removing the two connector plugs for ten seconds (more like 30) worked. Turned ignition off before I did it. Actually cycled the ignition switches on and off while unplugged, which really should have done nothing to the...
All that said, agree with the above comments that you won't regret a survey. You could go check out the boat, and if anything feels possibly off, then insist on a survey. But if you don't know what you're looking for, yes, the survey.
I'm not a surveyor, but have bought without, and recently participated in three large boat surveys. Take this for what you will. Moisture meter is a low cost, do it yourself survey tool, as is a hammer sized plastic mallet for tapping hull, decking and most importantly (I think) the stringers...
Kevin, Can you confirm for the electrically challenged, that the easier fix you mention at the start is to separate the reading lights wire from the closet lights wire, and rejoin the reading lights wire to the hot wire on the other switch post. Thanks for this really helpful write up!
Success! Used a pump to pressurize and open the drain valve for a few seconds, then pulled the ring to close. It seated and hasn't leaked since. Supports my suspicion that I ingested something that got stuck in the valve while damaging my H2O pressure sensor. Or maybe a coincidence. Thanks...
Checked the two indicator pistons at the ring and tire valve fixture. Both retracted. Pulled the ring. It was not under pressure and had no effect. That's actually good, because there should have been no way for air pressure to just build up in there. Unfortunately, did not have a pump...
Got it. I should get to the boat today or tomorrow to pull the ring. Still, I keep wondering why these two failures in the same water line happened together. For a month, there was no drain drip (I've been monitoring bilge water sources for next time on the hard.) Then the alarm, engine...
I’ll pull the ring and report. With the new pressure sensor installed, starboard engine was now showing .9 to 1.2 PSI before engine start vs. 0.0 on port. Maybe that’s residual air pressure doing that. Many thanks.
Hi all. One month owner with 30 good hours until this simultaneous starboard engine (8.1S Horizon) SmartCraft SEA PUMP CKT HI alarm, accompanied by a water drain drip (180/min) which only drips when the engine is off. H2O Press reading was pegged (43.4 PSI) with all other indications normal...
