    340 SUNDANCER THREAD

I had straight drives in my 390 EC and it was easy to handle and never had any issues. I have had Pre Alphas, Alpha I's, and currently have Bravo I's behind 450 HP SBC's in my 255 Formula. The Bravo's seem to be a much better product over all than the Alpha's ever hoped to be...I have very...

    340 SUNDANCER THREAD

We are considering purchasing a 10 year old 340 DA and have narrowed the search down to two possible boats. One has twin 496 Mercruisers on twin Bravo III drives with a bow thruster...the other being the same power through V-Drives. the boat will be kept on a lift behind a home in Punta Gorda...

Considering '92 Pachanga 32...trying to determine value.

I am considering making a move on this boat which appears to be fresh...new rebuilds documented on 454 Mags spinning Bravo 1's. Boat is clean with dockside/shore power A/C...no generator. I'm guessing $14K~ $16K. Was there a generator option on this boat? Anyone have any experience with this...

qyadrajet running way rich..how do i fix this?

If the secondaries are opening too quickly you might have a faulty choke unloader or dash pot...it's the small round gizmo on the starboard side of the carb. You might also have a vacuum leak. You might try this site out as a resource :http://www.cliffshighperformance.com/ Cliff Ruggles is a...

    Continuation of U-Joint Bellows Saga

Nope...wish I had though, but I was busier than a one armed paper hanger keeping this project moving.

    What drive is this?

That is a regular No 1 drive...pre Alpha...there are millions of them out there....sort of the "Small Block Chevy" of the boating business.

    Continuation of U-Joint Bellows Saga

The Tip and Tow worked well...just make sure you have at least one extra set of hands to help move the hoist around while you are in the boat positioning the engine. I have pulled several car engines in my life and they were more difficult than this has been. The worst I ever did was helping a...

    Special tools for bellows job?

Jitts, If your pivot bolts are not corroded it will go fairly well. Just take your time and use your head and you'll get through it.

    Continuation of U-Joint Bellows Saga

OK...engine is out, gimbal assembly with new exhaust and shift bellows as well as new gimbal bearing is installed. We ran the engine on the floor while it was out, changed the plugs, oil, filter, power steering hoses, rebuilt the Q-jet and set the timing. the engine is going back in tomorrow...

    Special tools for bellows job?

If you are referring to a MerCruiser Stern Drive...yes there are. Check with www.sterndrive.com I did this yesterday so I have a good feel for it. The first thing you need is the hinge pin tool as well as adhesive for the bellows. It helps to also have a flexible nut driver for the hose clamps...

    Best RPM for 5.7

With the Marine Cam grind that most of our 5.7 engines use, 3200 RPM is right at the peak of the torque curve. A maximum WOT RPM should be near 4800~5000 RPM. Any more than that is just spinning the engine faster making no additional or even less power.

    Power Capacity of Alpha Drives

I ran across this over on the Donzi Forum. http://rlcboats.com/ How about 650 HP & 100+ MPH in a 22 foot Deep V with a single Alpha 1!!! This is a great read and has me re-thinking moving to twin Bravo 1's in my Formula 255 Liberator:huh:

    Continuation of U-Joint Bellows Saga

Great idea...in fact I thought of the same thing this afternoon. I found one that is a "Tip and Tow" that will lift 10'...just perfect...$64/day. I think I'll pick it up Friday PM and keep it all next weekend. I'll go ahead and get everything unbolted this week and Saturday I'll be able to get...

    Continuation of U-Joint Bellows Saga

Well...in cleaning things up this AM and further observation I found another issue. Now it seems that the gimbal ring on the port side where the pivot pin goes in is wallowed out to the pint where the pivot pin passes right through. There will always be too much play in the ring for safe...
