    Hull maintenance DIY

Hello and Happy Start of the Season, just curious if any of you perform hull maintenance on your boats personally? I’m in the frigid San Francisco Bay Area but never shy away from a challenge. At $300 every 6-8 keeps I’m thinking I could save some scratch if it’s not all that difficult...

    340 SUNDANCER THREAD

Hello Suss, did you ever sell this?

    Seating / Upholstery issue

Exactly. I can see where “they” pierced the forward side of the cushion but the aft portion was clearly screwed down with no puncture of the material. Wacky. It will retrofit snugly enough that I intend on leaving it free floating. Cheers!

    Seating / Upholstery issue

Disregard. Brute force dislodged the cushion and I’d found the plywood was somehow screwed down to the base... from inside the cushion... strange but at least I’ve now got it out and headed to the seamstress to make a matching piece.

    Seating / Upholstery issue

G’morning all- I wonder if anyone can offer insight as to how the heck to remove this step / seat that is adjacent to the v-berth in my 340? As you can see it’s filthy and in redoing the v-berth bolsters I’d love to be able to match this up. I’ve tried exploring through the cabinet on the left...

    Battery Energizer switches not illuminating

Yes, in reading MasterFab’s reno blog I saw he replaced the Carsten bulbs with LED with the addition of the resistors. Beyond my patience level to be sure. Would be great if FP had LED switches in their replacement full set, however no mention of LED in the description. Perhaps I’ll give em a...

    Battery Energizer switches not illuminating

Hello all, apologies if this has been covered already at some point. The amount of info here is dizzying Is there an actual replacement lamp for the Carling rocker switches or must one replace the switch body itself? I’ve seen people convert to LED so figured it should be possible? I am...

Link goes nowhere and not to reiterate, however I am familiar with how to search using google... what I was asking was for personal experience recommendations.

    Upholstery / Canvas recs

Hello all, I’m looking for upholstery and canvas recommendations in the SF Bay Area. If you’ve had work done or know someone that has and is pleased with the work I’d be most grateful for a referral. Google isn’t much help and Yelp is well... Yelp. Thanks in advance and happy boating!

My first (of many yes I know...) gremlin!

Absolutely the plan absolutely the plan. New ev 100% of how it will go. Once decided if burl or black, all actuators and switches to be ordered as well. So when in doubt, go back to the beginning... removed both lights, trimmed wires back a tiny bit, installed new 10/12 butt splice...

Using a rotary polisher is not easy....first(ish) time through on my boat

Could simply attach to the rail and be moved along as needed! Love it! I’ll take 2

My first (of many yes I know...) gremlin!

Back when I initially purchased my 340, I installed Lumitec white, red, blue led lights in the arch / spoiler. Added a terrific feature of dimmable white and static red or blue lighting option. Now that I’ve moved her over to our new home, lights simply don’t work. Went so far as to pull one of...

Using a rotary polisher is not easy....first(ish) time through on my boat

Thank you for the feedback. Always learning and a perpetual student. Here are the two products I’ve purchased so far. Goal is to do an initial “strip” (thankfully gel coat isn’t TOO oxidized) and then ongoing maintenance.

Small tv to liquor cabinet conversion

Simply awesome! Considering doing something quite similar, and have already ditched the tv.

Using a rotary polisher is not easy....first(ish) time through on my boat

Awesome, Thank you. I’ve “dabbled” a bit with both and the cutting compound definitely sends the oxidation packing, and the polish brings out a luster and shine. Was more wondering if the wax was essentially overkill in addition to the polish. Going down to the boat ina few minutes and will post...

Using a rotary polisher is not easy....first(ish) time through on my boat

Just curious as I’m about to embark on this very same chore. I have a cutting compound, and a polish. Both are McGuire’s “Ultra” I believe. I also have a rotary “grinder like” power tool and a cheaper two handle orbital polisher. And of course I also have the appropriate pads for both cutting...

    Sunshade question

So I’m thinking of taking advantage of the 20% off offer from Great Lakes Boat Top but before I do, I wanted opinions on whether this existing frame might be usable? When I purchased boat last year, there was no Bimini, no rear sunshade but had framing for both... or, might this have been a...

    Refurbishment Photo Montage

That looks insanely COOL! Read through the wonderful start to finish refurb by “MasterFab” of a 340 and his endeavors basically talked me out of pulling the carpet. Firstly because I don’t have the kind of time he invested but secondly I also don’t believe I have the nearly the skillset he...
