Absolutely frustrated with this Mercruiser engine

This is a first class company. I had a self inflicted leaking issue when I rebuilt a 350 for a firebird and had torn a couple o rings installing. The owner returned my call on a Sunday, gave me his cell, and overnighted me a new oring set at no cost. I wouldn’t use anyone else

    Gimbal Bearing press fit?

Exactly what I did. If the new one spins I will probably pull the housing and replace. I just got the engine put back together so should know in a few days. Thanks!

    Gimbal Bearing press fit?

No I am not. But am now thinking about ordering a merc version. The bearing came in a kit of AMZ that included a puller, driver, and alignment tool. I did check the I.D. of both the old and new bearing on the alignment tool and fit was good. The O.D. of the new bearing seems to either be a...

    Gimbal Bearing press fit?

Ill get a pic when I get to work. I do have the tolerance ring on the bearing. This is a greasable version vs the sealed ones they sell. The boat is new to me so I dont know the maintenance, but I am no stranger to bearing replacements, and by looking at the bore, it almost looks like the old...

    Gimbal Bearing press fit?

Hello all, 1989 BR 190 that is getting repowered due to a cracked block. Long block on the way from Michigan Motorz, but while I wait I wanted to do the gimbal bearing, bellows, shift cable etc. I pulled the old one out that was not quite seized but close. New one just pushes into the...

    1989 190BR Hydro locked

Hello all. Took the boat out for the first time in two years and quickly ended up stranded. Wouldnt turn over and battery was brand new, so my stomach climbed in to my throat knowing what I might fine. Pulled the cover to find top of engine covered in milky oil. Got towed back to ramp...

    New Member/New Boat

I’ve had two boats before, an older bay liner and a speedboat with a 175 mercury outboard, but that was 30 some years ago. I was amazed at how solid this is and handles at 53 mph. For a 31 year old boat. I’m impressed.

It tops out around 48 on the dash speedo, but I need to check it with GPS as that bounces around quite a bit. 4600 rpm at WOT which from what Ive read is about spot on. Thanks!!

Hi all, was gifted a 1989 190 BowRider from an old family friend. Id been on the boat before but at least 20 years ago. Knowing the PO very well I did some PM on it, at least what I knew to do. Changed outdrive oil, and thanks to this site, replaced impeller as well. First trip out it...
