Now that I've done a ton of work, I'm curious what my boat is probably worth. Any guesses? After taking out another couple and kids last weekend, I may or may not have twofootitus lol
It's a 97 290DA with a new/rebuilt 7.4L. Fresh water cooled. New transom assembly also. Everything works as it...
I thought it would be good to have a separate post for this one...
I'm going to be setting up radar on my boat. I have a Furuno 1621 display and Furuno rsb-0060. I'm wondering if they are worth messing with. I would need to buy cables and the cheapest display power cable is $86 from what I see...
How often do you come across unlit markers? We were coming back from dinner up the York River last night in the dark and a slight fog. All the red and green channel markers were doing their thing, but we came across two dark ones that jumped out of the dark. I didn't like getting surprised like...
I can't say I'm surprised, but I'm a little bummed. One of the valves stuck today and broke a rocker. I decided to strip it down and go through it before I get any more surprises. I could tell it had been used in salt water so going through it will take the mystery out of the equation for me...
In my best Bahstin accent, wicked good scowahs!
While waiting to meet the seller for a generator I bought, I looked at the local Phily marketplace listings for S&Gs. Found a complete Bennett trim tab set up for $100 so I said what the heck. He ended up giving me a Furuno radar also. It needs...
Hopefully going to pick up a used Westerbeke 5.0 BCG tomorrow. Price is too good to pass up... So with that, anything in particular that I should be looking for? It's out of the boat and not able to be started. I'm expecting to have to rebuild it, but it looks pretty good physically in the pics...
I know. Manly thread coming from a Marine on the Marine Corps birthday lol Happy birthday to any of my brothers who might be reading! Yut!
I picked up a Rex RX-607 a couple of weeks ago to play with. It's a Sailrite Ultrafeed knockoff, but very solid and nice quality. All the parts are...
Any reason why the bilge pump breaker would pop after using the Vacuflush for a few minutes when the batteries aren't tuned on?
If I don't have the batteries turned on and I'm using the toilet, the lights will lightly pulse as the Vacuflush builds vacuum again. Sometimes it will pop the breaker...
Kind of interesting. When I first bought our boat I asked what this key was for. Nobody could tell me. Turns out that it looks like it's for the macerator. I thought it was an emergency start or so something. When I turned it for a second last night it sounded like the macerator turned on.
"Chillin'" on the boat right now. Just dropped below 50°. Bah...
At least I have the head, beer, beer fridge and bed all within passing out distance lol
Installed a couple new drains today. It's the little things that add up...
Let's Go Brandon!!
I'd like to replace the cracked mirror I have when I replace the lights. How does this panel surrounding it come down? I don't see any screws. Behind the lights maybe?
Thanks
Any thoughts on these relatively inexpensive helm seats? I'm thinking about giving one a try, but the bolster makes it look like you'd end up sitting too far back when it's down.

Would there be anything wrong with testing a Cruiseair system on the trailer using the hose? I don't have a geni installed yet and wanted to try out my HVAC system. I could put a geni on my swim platform, but I don't want to give anyone a heart attack lol
Please edjumacate me on my Cruisair system. The generator was removed before I bought my 290 and I haven't docked and hooked up to power. Only 120v power was on the trailer so no testing of the hvac system yet.
I'd love to have heat downstairs now that the weather has cooled at night. Does the...
One of my burner switches is bad and the other one isn't great. I went to replace them and it ends up being $100. When the whole stove can be replaced for $300, I have to think twice on a 24 year old stove.
My question is whether or not there is a better way. Whether it's replace the switches or...
I've spent quite a bit on the boat this year so I'm trying to reel the spending in a little. I'm about to spend more on a new replacement bimini enclosure also.
Any thoughts as to why a 5th wheel RV cover wouldn't work?
We don't get much snow thankfully, so it's really just for leaves and uv...
I don't like the bench seat in my 290 and was thinking about swapping it out for a Captain's chair. I'd really like something with a flip up bolster. I'd love to see some pics and/or ideas about doing this. I'm not above doing mods like pulling the bench platform out and having two Captain's...
I have a clean Kohler 8eozd that had the lower end rebuilt, but the head wasn't reinstalled. Everything is there and would be an easy project for someone that knows diesels, but I don't. If I wanted to sell it, what would be a fair price to ask?
This article is a bummer, but nice to see a definitive answer to the question of whether you can run a/c for any amount of time using an inverter. The answer is effectively no.
"Self-sufficiency with solar is a wonderful thing, but it has its limits. You can easily keep up with LED lights and...
Does anyone have the hull drawing for a 97 Sundancer 290da? I tried to find it at Sea Ray, but no luck. I have the hull drawing for a 98, but it's different than my early 97. I would imagine the 95-early 97 are the same.
No reason in particular.
Thanks.
