Mitch.... I re-read my OP and I see the confusion I created. Here's the corrected story as best as I remember. I called the marine store and said I needed to purchase a new prop for my boat with a 5.0 MPI Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 2 outdrive. The parts manager asked me if I wanted LH or RH prop. I...
Yup.... This is a LH prop and I in fact do need a RH prop for my boat. I ordered a RH prop and the box it came in said RH prop! But the box had been opened and resealed. The store must have taken a return in the wrong box..... I spoke with the store owner today and he is sending me out the...
I recently purchased a new Turning Point 4 blade prop for my Mercruiser 5.0 MPI. Prop part number on the invoice is 21501740 which indicates a LH prop. However, when I shift into forward, the boat moves in reverse. And of course when the shifter is moved into reverse, the boat goes forward...
There are no dumb questions. Everything and anything is possible. I know for sure the shifter lever is in neutural, because the engine was running immediately before I caused the short circuit. The kill switch on the shifter is also in the RUN position. I don't know about the neutral switch on...
Thanks guys... I found both of these breakers. Right where you both said they would would be... on top of the engine. The little yellow "RESET" bar was tripped so I reset it. And I oushed the red button on the other breaker. Still no power to the ignition switch, but all the accessory switches...
While installing a new volt guage in my 2007 Chaparrel 214 I forgot to turn off the main battery switch! I touched the "signal" or hot wire going to gauge to the yellow ground wire. Now the entire electrical system on the boat is DEAD. Where is the main circuit breaker usually found on a small...
Nader. Thanks for the reply. I should have said MOST of the old gauges have three wires. Some have only two (Dark Blue and Light Yellow) Gauges that do not require a "signal" will not have a fourth (s) wire. And the Speedo does not require power to operate, so no purple (i) wire either.
Thanks ZZ13 for that wire color chart. So Purple goes on the "i" terminal, Dark Blue is the gauge lights (probably will be a spade terminal) and the light yellow is the ground. Do I have it right?
Sorry techmitch, you are absolutely correct. I just updated my profile. My boat is now a 2007 Chaparral Sunesta 214 with a Mercruiser 5.0L MPI and Alpha 1. This is the boat in which I will be changing the gauges. I hope no one is angry at me for posting a Chaparral question on the CSR forum...
I am about to install a new set of instrument gauges in my boat. I've done this before on another boat but this one is slightly different. The old gauges have PLUGS and the new gauges will be terminals with nuts. My question is about wire colors in the old gauge plugs. I understand that some...
Let me answer some of these questions in the previous few posts. I don't know the total weight of the rig. I do know the boat net will be about 4,000 and the trailer weighs 675. I plan to leave the boat on the trailer between using it at the local lakes on the weekends, with an occasional...
Here's a pic of the boat on the trailer. It looks like it fits the trailer well as the transom is dead even with the bunks that overhang the trailer main beams by 6" or so. I also found that the net weight for the boat is 3,800 lbs. Trailer has disc brakes also. More comments are welcome........
OK I will most likely go for the Sealskin cover because the price is right, and the boat MUST have a full cover here in Florida. Also, I think I'm paying top dollar for the boat, but that's OK because it is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. Super clean, low hours (295) on the Merc 5.0 MPI...
I thought so! I will try to negociate for a "one size up" trailer when mext I speak with the sales person. I want the boat and will pay a few more $$ to get the correct, safe trailer.... Thank you.
The dealer I am buying my used boat from has put a used 2016 Magic Tilt Alum. trailer under it. The boat is a 21' deck boat with a net weight of approx. 4,000 lbs. I looked up the trailer specs. based on the model number. It is a TALS2044 18'‑20' 4400 net capacity. Is this the correct trailer...
That's a great idea, but I think I'll go with a Sunbrella full cover. The Chaparral is 22' and I don't think my community will allow this type of cover in the free boat parking area. Thanks to everyone who responded.
