I agree. Now that I own a gas boat again, I will run them all the time. So what if I have to replace a burned-up blower (they're cheap). The additional safety factor is worth it IMO.
Wrong section, but as referred to in the thread mentioned above- YES, run the blower(s).
Just like mains at idle speed, there's not enough air circulating through the ER with only the gen running to provide adequate ventilation.
Nice install!
The "carpet" for the tambour doors is downright ingenious. Replacement tambour is ridiculously priced...
That should be a "sticky" for anyone with an '80's cruiser- they all need replacement.
Exactly. It sucks...
Somewhere around 15% of value seems to be the going rate. What a racket. Boat U.S. has been off the chart.
Mike, try Lynn Henley at Strickland Marine Agency (843) 795-1000. Good luck.
Actually, SeaNile, I'm surprised you had to give this much thought.
You have the comfort level with diesels. The smell of diesel and the turbo whine is in your blood. For cruising boats, bigger is always better (who DOESN'T want more living space?). I'll take (and did in the past) an older...
Whether the technology works or not I have no idea; but in any case it won't affect soft growth- which still needs to be removed from the hull.
To the OP; you say there was growth at six weeks; don't you have a diver (or DIY) on the hull monthly? I could go a bit longer in the winter, but...
Color of the smoke needs to be known to help troubleshoot. Black, White, or Blue?
Given the "laboring" symptom- and if the smoke is black- I'd look at the injectors/injector pump.
I don't see how turbos could be involved since they wouldn't be spooling at idle anyway. Does the engine run...
The $million question is how did it perform at survey?
There were no issues at that time- reached max rpms/no smoke, no overheating? Speed?
I'm confoozed...
Took me a long time to get used to sitting at the helm. Force of habit, I guess. When I started boating it was a 22' walk-around- and trying to sit in a helm seat while running offshore in 4' seas would either snap the seat post or my back. Standing was mandatory for comfort and safety. I've...
Actually, it's a bit counter-intuitive- but the issue is for freshwater- not salt.
Salt water, as we know, is an excellent conductor of electricity- better than the human body as the salt content is higher. That means any current leakage into the water can be dispersed, or find an easy path...
Not sure of your question..."good idea?"
If the type/style of light requires the hole, you don't have a choice but it's not difficult.
Measure twice, drill once. If you have antifouling on the hull, you need to sand off the paint down to the bare gelcoat, roughing up the gelcoat a bit in the...
Ditto on the 6v golf cart batteries.
Aside from the points made above, they're deep cycle- designed specifically for the use you're contemplating.
8D batteries are for engine starting- not deep cycle.
That's no soft grounding. How fast were you going?
Be sure they check carefully for any damage to the hull- I wouldn't be surprised if there is significant structural damage. Sounds like you really "rocked" it...
I wouldn't plan any more on the water activities for this year. Let us know...
Well, lessee...
If the tow vehicle got 15 mpg, figure at least $150 for RT fuel costs alone. If he's only charging one-way for the delivery, that's a hell of a deal for $500. Considering that it probably involves an overnight in a motel, and meals...there isn't a lot left ($350) after fuel...
Nah...couldn't be. A THT'er owning a Sea Ray?
I got fed up with all the idiots on that site that think if it's not a 40' center console with triple engines it's a POS...haven't been back in six months.
