Just wanted to share my recent experience with Perko. In my annual haul back from FL this past week, the knob on my folding masthead light must have been loose, and spun off in the wind. Argg... I called Perko and to my delight 1) the phone was immediately answered by a person, 2) I was...
For those that know me here, like so many of us on this forum, I take pride in taking good care of my boats. Always do scheduled maintenance, always tackle problems when they occur, try to be pro-active. Do projects that I can and hire a mechanic when I can't. I've got 6 full seasons on my 260DA...
So while on my last cruise I had a new twist to overheating I haven't seen before.
First some background...
My risers and manifolds are original. I have about 675 hrs on the engine. Two seasons ago I had them removed and inspected and was told they look great. Time for another look for sure...
I'm headed down to the Keys for a few days. I'm hoping to put in at Key Largo somewhere and leave my tow rig for a few days. I see tons of ramps listed on Active Captain, but does anyone have a suggestion for a place that will allow my rig to be left there and be safe? Ideally behind a gated...
Well, to make a long story short, me an my friends do an annual trip. We WERE headed to NH this weekend, but weather has caused us to take pause and plan a new. So on short notice we are going to head to Baltimore (tow boat down there), boat, have fun and OH Yeah, see our beloved Pats take on...
Going to be heading up to Portsmouth NH for a few days. Looking at the marina information for that area, I'm not sure where the ideal location for us would be. Anyone know that port well?
Our key criteria:
- Clean bathrooms and showers
- Handy to dining and night life ashore
Thanks,
Down in Knoxville for a few days. My daughter is rowing in the US Nationals this weekend. Headed over to the SR Knoxville plant for a tour later today. Looking forward to seeing the operation. Will be visiting the Mastercraft plant as well. Looking forward to contrasting the two. Updates to...
We enjoyed a glorious day on the water. My good friend Bob, his father-in-law Jack, and I took a tour. We set
out from Mattapoisett, headed over to Woods Hole, then down the West coast of
the Elizabeth Islands to Cuttyhunk, across to Menemsha for lunch. Then up to Oak
Bluffs, back to Vineyard...
Lola's is having it's annual Cinco de Mayo fest on Saturday May 5. I went down to the "under new management" marina there (Foxpoint Marina) last weekend and had a good time. They are cleaining and repairing the docks and getting ready for the season. The dockmaster was very nice and helpful...
55 kt winds... no thanks.

Last summer my son bought his first boat, a 1986 Boston Whaler 11 Super Sport. It has a 1985 20hp Evinrude outboard with power tilt and tele-flex steering.
Our winter project, is a father / son project, to restore this classic. Spring will come soon, we have our work cut out for us. I will...
We love it when the dolphins run in our wake, sometimes so close to the boat you could reach out and pet them (we don't). But this would freak me out a bit.

My wife and I decided to stop over in Auckland for a couple of days on our way to Fiji. We explored your harbor today and then visited the museum. We'll be back another day.
Just bought a 1986 Boston Whaler 110 Sport with an Evinrude 20 HP OB on it. :smt038:smt038:smt038
Pick it up Friday.
We are excited , this will primarily be a kids' boat for use on our local lake, but will be taking it with us on some trips as a tender.
The boat is in perfect...
Well just finished the haul back from FL yesterday. Lost one set of bearings before we even got out of FL. Other than that it was an easy trip, again.
This coming weekend I have some friends riding in the PAN Mass Challenge. Saturday night they spend the night at the mass maritime academy in...
I was out last night and came across this boat in Lemon Bay in Englewood, FL. No signs of anyone onboard. When I came back in after dark, the boat was dark, too. Didn't seem like anyone was in a hurry to get her afloat when the tide came back up.:smt021
