    Which Westerbeke 4.5kw Gas

The BCGTC does not come in a 4.5, but the BCGB does. My point was how to distinguish between the models using my experience with the 2 as a reference. Your control panel appears to be a BCGB. You can find all the manuals and sales brochures on the Westerbeke site, including old models.

    Which Westerbeke 4.5kw Gas

That's the same control as I have on my BCGB, and typical for all these models based on my research. I replaced a blown BCGTC 9.6, which has the round air cleaner with a BCGB 7.0 with the square plastic air cleaner. The BCGB has a multi pin connector for connection to the boat wiring, and the...

    Which Westerbeke 4.5kw Gas

Got a picture? That would help. I'm not familiar with the BCG, but the other 3 look pretty similar as they use the same engine, but the generators are different. BCGB is 1800rpm, the other 2 are 3600 and the E is for electronic ignition.

Mercruiser 7.4L MPI Horizon distributor timing

When I rebuilt mine last winter, #1 was slightly clockwise from from centerline of the engine, viewed toward the timing belt end. 1 tooth either way made a large difference, counterclockwise from CL, or way further clockwise. This corresponds with the diagram on page 4B-6 of the service manual...

    Xantrex TruCharge 2 Indicators

I've been troubleshooting battery bank issues and finally located my issue, boiled almost dry it seems, but the charger does not charge after a fill, nor respond to settings changes and the 2 Stage LED is yellow. The manual does not mention anything about any yellow indicator and all others are...

    Battery drain troubleshooting

From the Supplement wiring diagram. The Main feed at the top comes from the switched side of the main switch, stbd bank. 4 Co Monitor clearly labled.

    Battery drain troubleshooting

The CO detectors are connected to the MDB in the DC panel which DOES go through the main switches, but no switch in the MDB to turn them off otherwise.

    Battery drain troubleshooting

4 CO detectors FireboyXintex, 4ma draw. They could theoretically run 10+ years on 2x series 27 batteries without a charge. I don't recall seeing them in the wiring diagrams, so not sure where they connect but still should not matter. Turning off the breakers is still key. I'd rather not have to...

    Battery drain troubleshooting

Some good points. Salt air is not generally an issue in the north chesapeake. It's super clean with minimal signs of corrosion anywhere. It went 5 months last winter with no ac power and still had plenty of charge. CO detectors are new. Alternators can be disconnected easily. Battery isolator is...

    Battery drain troubleshooting

Post winter haul both battery banks are going stone dead within about 2 weeks. All 4 batteries are about 18mo old. Because we were going to be away when it got hauled I disconnected shore power, then it was almost 2 weeks till they hauled it. No issues with starting, so they seemed fine then...

Looking for assist with locating raw water exhaust jacket drain plugs on my 454 MAG MPI Horizon

If this is the same engine as mine, as the title states, there are a number of locations for drains. Depending on what exhaust manifolds you have, there could be brass plugs (3) on the bottom, plus a blue drain plug in the hose elbow. There should also be a blue drain plug in the outlet hose...

    Boat tool kit

One thing we don't need anymore - a can of sawdust. A must have if you have a wooden hull. I cant remember all the times we stood on the bottom at belly button beach (Worton Cr MD) and rubbed sawdust over leaks in the boat I grew up on. The tarp is a brilliant idea. I've heard of other things...

    NJ ICW Current Status?

Ryan's been through there many times in the last 2 years, so he's familiar. This trip was the first time on the Elco, which is probably a few inches shallower than his SR. He put Sonar on the Elco, so we watched the bottom the whole way. Not sure where the tide was at the time, but no depth...

    No Drain Mercruiser Exhaust Manifolds??

I have another thread about my engine woes, which ended successfully. In that thear I mentioned that the replacement exhaust manifolds from Mercruiser came with a note saying that drains are no longer required (and missing). I am skeptical. I started the winterizing process last night, and since...

    Fuel Sender Resistance Scale

My calibrated chart. The whole point of this exercise is to use my Axiom MFD Fuel Management data to track fuel use and not rely solely on the gauges, especially at refueling time. Now that I have calibrated it I can validate the Axiom numbers, next season.

    Fuel Sender Resistance Scale

Yes, as noted I have reed type senders. As the float rises it makes a jump to the next value every 3/4" for a total of 25 steps. The difference between steps from mid point to the top (full) is near zero (at 6ohms/step) but from mid point down, the change increases quite a bit at each step...

    Fuel Sender Resistance Scale

I pulled the sender and measured it last night. It is absolutely nonlinear. 25 steps at 3/4" increments. First step from bottom was a 19 ohm change, last step at top is 5.3. I'll plot and post it later. This confirms what my checks suggested.

    NJ ICW Current Status?

I grew up on and around wooden boats. My last one was a 1962 28ft CC Constellation. 1 owner very solid, but pretty much untouched since new. We restored it to new, WL up, but then the original bottom reached a point of no return. The double bottom lasted into the 60's. My '62 and the 'family'...

    NJ ICW Current Status?

The listing is a bit optimistic! Ryan had 2 weeks of hull work & paint done before he left, plus he did thru hull fittings, hoses, bilge pumps and float switches, wiring fixes and more. Attached is my Fathers Elco, around '73 or '74, me in the middle and Ryans (late) dad on the right.
