If the items the buyer is asking for are in serviceable condition, then I would push back. For example:
Replacing things like this, I would say no.
Batters 5yrs old, but still work.
Hoses are original, but serviceable.
Canvas/upholstery showing use, but no holes, tears.
Cosmetics - should be...
Since the car thread is back on top -- would like some opinions. I have driven a Lexus for the last 20yrs - not the same one, but currently I have a 2004 LS430 that is pristine. I love it, one of the last luxury sedans with a V8 engine. But, I am always carrying something somewhere -...
Never owned one myself, but when I was a kid my sister's boyfriend had one (I guess it was his Dad's) they would let me tag along - sitting in the back where there was no seat zipping around the mountains in western NC. I though him and that car were the coolest thing!
That "leading edge" graphic was on almost all SeaRays in the 1998 - 2000 period. My 185 had it, I left it since it was in good shape. Starting in 2000 they started going to just the boot stripe - if it were me that is what I would do - remove the graphic and leave just a boot strip. I...
That’s one thing I would stick with the OEM Mercruiser switches. I used a lot of Sierra parts on my Mercruiser - generally had good success with them - but the trim switches were a bit flakey. Hard to get them adjusted and the guage (sender) never worked that well. Problem is it is a PIA to...
I mentioned some of this above, but since living in Charlotte, I have been rear ended 3 times - over a 20yr period, so not happening every day! One was a hit and run. A good Samaritan had the accident on video, so I was able to get the tag number. Police did not do much, but they did use...
I've been hit twice by uninsured motorist. Both cases I just had to suck it up and go through my own insurance. Police did nothing that I could see. One had no license, no registration, no insurance and no speak english. He got a ticket, but I am sure he didn't pay it and just kept drive...
We had a SeaDoo when we had our lake house -- 2006 GTI SE -- it was a blast. We put a couple hundred hours on it over 5yrs and had zero problems with it. It was a 4 stroke 130hp naturally aspirated (no supercharger). It would still run in the mid 50's.
Could be a moccasin, but when it comes to snakes, my rule of thumb is it you are close enough to see it’s eys and head clearly you are too close.
My dad’s way of handling a snake sighting was a 12ga shotgun - bang no more snake. Not sure that would be a good idea on the boat though.
Snake away helps. We used to have them on our dock and seawall, especially in the early spring, generally like to sun themselves. As the weather got warmer they move away from the sun. The snake in your picture is an Eastern Water snake (I am in Central NC), big, fat and they will bite but...
Well, I just couldn't stop - last weekend I put a second coat of Flagship on and finished the topsides. Also, and not a "shine" project, but I have wanted to put a transom trim switch in - I had one on my SeaRay and really liked it. The plan was to install it exactly as it would be if it had...
This is a hard one, because you really would have to compare like models to like models and similar years. For example, Bayliner built some top notch motor yachts in the day and there was a time that Glastron was considered a top of the line runabout.
From the list we have owned SeaRay, Cobalt...
My Lewmar windlass is all chain. I had a rope chain combo with my SeaRay, it was always touch where the chain/rope connection went through. Broke the tension finger (it was a LoFrans) all that BS. The Lewmar with chain works perfectly.
As far as maintenance, my manual just says to give it...
