180 Bow Rider Thread... Questions & Answers or just chat!

Thanks for the welcome!

Not sure what Power Squadron is?

My first goal is figuring out how to "re-mod" a previous owners "mod". They made some changes underneath the seat in front of the swim ladder, rendering it hazardous. They also did a poor job of it, as the wood in front of it is COMPLETELY rotted. So, jumping in head first, but can't seem to find anything that shows or tells me what it "should" look like.

Power squadrons are local groups that promote safe boating. They offer all kinds of classes. Boating basics, navigation, etc. Great place to start. Look them up. There is probably a squadron near you that offers classes.

We just picked up our 180BR a few weeks ago. Boat looks and runs good but the trim gauge stopped working. Can anyone walk me through troubleshooting this thing?

Hi All, new owner of a Sea Ray 1998 175 Bowrider I/O. Located in Tampa. Needs a few things done cosmetically (replace carpet, seat cushions, etc. ) and tune up on engine (has not been run in over a year). Would appreciate any recommendations on places to take the boat......as well as getting this forum started up again.

Hi All, Proud new owner of a 1994 180 Bowrider Signature here and can't wait to lake test it for the first time this weekend. Desperately trying to locate and owner's / operator's manual, but no luck on Sea Ray's site, manuallibcom, etc. Can anyone help???

Hi, I have a 2000 180BR. I've kept track of this thread over the years for some wonderful information on my boat. Not sure how many people are still around but I'm looking for information on swim platforms. Ideally something that is more affordable than the .com company that makes the custom ones. I have a hard time justifying $1500 for a boat that is almost 20 years old. I'd love ANY information, pictures of Sea Rays that have installed platforms or really just about any information in this area.

I have a friend selling a 2005 185 Sport with the 115 Mercury four stroke OB. He has owned the boat since new and it only has 175 hrs. Always stored inside. Considering buying it. Anyone have any insight on this model and particularly this engine? After reading this thread doesn’t look like the outboard was a popular option for this boat.
Any thoughts on fair purchase price?

Just bought a 2004 Searay 180 400 hrs and pretty good shape for its age. I has anyone found a way to attach a bow trolling motor to this thing?

how ...difficult is it to install a steering cable in a 2001 190 bow runner

Seems like a dead thread but I need correct service manual for 1990 180 br 4.3L. Confused. Thanks

Enter the serial number of your engine into this tool & it will give you the electronic version of the service manual. Works for the lower unit too. Also tells you the part number of the service manual itself so you can buy the right one on eBay (which I've done / love it).

Good afternoon.

I purchased a 1999 sea ray bow rider. And I am looking on how to get new seat cushions as they are in pretty bad shape. Also side boards inside, and back cushions. Been looking online and haven’t had any luck. Also looking for new carpet options as well. Any help would be appreciated.

That's all going to be custom upholstery work. Carpets also. Welcome to CSR. You should add your location to your info. so others who may be in your area may be able to make some recommendations.

Pretty much the problem with most bow riders. Very exposed to the weather, aka Sun, which eats upholstery. As Mitch said, find a local shop, dig deep, prolly cost more than you paid for boat. Repower is cheaper. Good luck.

While some of the upholstery, particularly the Captain’s chair, is worn through, some of it appears to just be dirty. Get some magic erasers and using a little water as lubricant, see how much of the upholstery you can clean up.

The carpet is glued in, and you are looking at dozens of hours of work just to get the carpet up. I would find some spray carpet cleaner, or even Dawn dish soap and work it into the carpet then hose it off. You may be pleasantly surprised at the result.

Like a couple of previous posters have said, you will just have to find a local boat upholstery shop to recover any of the seats are worn through.

It's never a good idea to use magic eraser's on vinyl seating as they are abrasive, that's how they work. They will remove the finish coat and basically sand away at the vinyl.

Yeah, common mistake. You searched with the letter O instead of the number 0 in the beginning of your serial number. Try again! It works for your serial #: 0C762406
