1976 Sea Ray SRV 240 Project Boat

Hope I didn’t confuse. Totally agree that shift and steering cables should not go in pvc. Just at the stern those cables are pretty rigid and sweep where they want/need to get to their mounts. Just suggesting if you do put on a wiring conduit, you know where those rigid cable sweeps are.

The white looks great!

You inspired me to clean up my deck too. Here is my smaller 180srv with newly gel coat deck and sides.

Dont know why they always open sideways in here this pic looks normal on my computer!
Anyways. These are just tacked in so I could get a sense of how they looked refinished and back in the boat!
Also have the panel for over the tank done with glass and strengthening ribs underneath, and access added. Will glass this in later after tank sender is replaced, hoses reconnected and tank 100 % ready.

Ahhh Done. I long to say those words!! Although in reality the work will go on for a while. Have not even thought about the cuddy updates yet!!
I will be happy when I hear the engine and get her wet for thew first time!!

Thank you!

Gimble mount (2).jpg
Got the Gimble mount and transom plate installed, rerun the cables under the shelf from the helm back.
Tonight I bolt starter to engine and the engine is ready to go back into the boat.
Excited to see it back in the boat wherr it belongs!!

Hi. Just now joined the club. Have been getting some great information from this site for a while. I just started stripping a 1973 SRV 240. You could say were in the same boat.

WoW, yes we are! Happy to help however I can. Didn't know much going into this but have learned from doing and from many helpful folks on this site.
Amazing to me how different these boats look year to year?? Have fun, take your time. Great Boats!

Was your gas tnk under an Access hatch? That is the cover was not glassed in place??
Hi. Yes it was. It sits in the channel you can see in the pic. There was plywood at both ends of the tank that kept it in place also. The plywood was rotted and removed. It looks like all the plywood in this boat was just regular plywood as in not marine. Bye

Thanks! Yeah there was no Marine Plywood used in the build of my boat by Searay. All exterior construction grade, poorly sealed and barely connected to the hull.

Now its all marine grade/ Epoxy sealed and well glassed to the hull!

Great Job so far !! More than many, I totally get where you are at. I hope you enjoy the process as much as I did. I'm on the other end (finally), and doing the exterior and aesthetics after 8 years of restoration projects in the spring/fall and using mine every summer.

If you go to the Sailrite wedsite you can look at various videos on marine projects for boats when it comes to finishing the inside and making the covers and other stuff. I have found them to be very helpful and they sell great products.

Looks good. I have been wondering about painting the hull. Will compound and wax for now but paint may be in the future.. I look forward to summers of using between spring and falls of projects/ upgrades!!

Loaded engine in this weekend. Big Milestone!'
Still need to align the engine and outdrive and install the outdrive.
But it is good to see the engine back where it belongs.
