Guys,
As the thread says. I have an S-19 with an original Quicksilver throttle control. I'm trying to figure out what would cause me to get about halfway up to speed and have it act like I dumped the throttle back to neutral.

It works fine when I go back to neutral and go again, but it's done it twice now and I know that's not normal. Any advice on where to start?

P.S it hesitated to go from WOT to neutral too. My wife looked at me like I was crazy because it felt like I dumped the throttle super fast.

Thanks!

That does not sound like a throttle issue. More like a lack of gas or maybe a electric spark issue

Thanks for the reply, Jeff! It’s a 1987 4.3L merc. With an alpha one. It’s got new plugs, wire distributor, carb was rebuilt 2 years ago. New starter, and belts this year. Getting bellows and impeller done at the end of the season.

I cant think of anything at throttle besides the kill switch. But that is only to protect from starting in gear. You do have a throttle knock down switch at the motor. But that only kills motor for a split second to go in gear. Good thing to check is main electric plug at motor. Start boat and move connection a couple times. If you see guages jump or motor bounce it could just be a loose or dirty connection there. Really need more info from ya
