1993 SeaRay Sundancer 370 Simrad Go9 Xse install

So I'm just about done with the install. The transducer is being installed by my mechanic this weekend. Radome will be going on Monday. Probably gonna buy a mount to make it better.

Let me know what mount you went with. I bought the 4G and i think I am going with the 6 inch lift on my arch.
I have been reading my set up and I think I am good to go with only a slight rise.
Also how did you find out which transducer fit into your old thru hull sensor?

I decided to use the Scan Strut Radar mount with 6inch lift. (Literally just bought it) I thought I already had a mount, but it is just 1 inch blocks on wood painted white with a bolt through it. So instead I will install this one when it arrives:

Scanstrut 6" Aluminum PowerTower f/2kW & 4kW Raymarine, Garmin & Navico https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013PU9390/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_mAi2ybCDJMP4C

I will fill the old holes on the arch with 5200. The mount will make the install much cleaner and probably make the radar function much better. My clearance issues are not as bad as I thought as my antenna sticks up much taller than my radar arch.

I took a gamble on the transducer. I bought the airmar B150 with 20* tilt. It ended up needing a slightly larger hole than the old Thruhull so it was not an issue. We just cut a larger hole in place of the other. I paid $305 for the transducer. Hopefully it will be worth it. A little bummed I lost the functionality of the Structure scan since I won't be using the transom mount.

So I spent all day finishing up the list of things that needed done before my launch in 5 days. I mounted the radar (without my radar mount from Scanstrut), attached all remaining cabling to the back of the unit, changed out all my plug wires and spark plugs, and changed out my fuel filters. We should be all ready for launch. I was in a bit of a panic when I attempted to connect the transducer to the back of my unit and it didn't fit. I need an adapter, a 7 pin to a 9 pin. Thankfully the guy from iMarine.com was able to help me. He is looking for the adapter for me and will be calling me ASAP.

Still debating about whether I am going to use the scanstrut radar mount tower. It is super nice, but I don't know if I want to unscrew the radome and install that to the arch.

Super excited about finishing everything up and super ready to have the boat back in the water!

Been awhile since an update, and unfortunately I didn't take any close up pictures. But, I got the adapter in the mail. I finished up the install. Everything seemed to be working great. I hadn't yet installed the scanstrut tower. After working out all the first of the year kinks (there were many) we made our way from the storage Marina to my dock. Upon arrival both motors shut off and decided to not run, all while I was trying to dock in 25mph winds. Thankfully I was able to get to the dock. Broken water pump belt, and 3 spark plug wires not pushed down all the way fixed the problems.

Anyway, as I was cleaning up the boat and working on organizing everything I left the stereo on. Was plugged into shore power. I would occasionally have the stereo just randomly shut off then turn back on. So I pulled everything back apart and went through all the wiring. I found two ground wires not securely crimped (guess you can't trust your buddy to wire things) and one power wire. In tracing my lines I found that my buddy had wired all of the power, over 45amps to one 16gauge wire. The wire was very hot. Thankfully it had not caught fire. So, I did a complete rewire myself. I ran 8gauge wire including a ground to a fused distribution block and then added two 40amp relays to the circuit style switches. I also changed all the ground wires to a new ground block. After all of this I turned the power back on. Only the smaller amps and the Simrad unit would flicker. So I checked the voltage on my batteries...dead, less than 9 volts. Brand new batteries in October. So next I checked my 24 year old battery charger. Sure enough the charger was not putting any output the the 12v battery bank. I had the mechanic temporarily wire the other battery charger bank to the 12v system. Once my batteries charged up, everything worked great! We installed the scanstrut tower. It looks excellent! Best decision that I made. I had the mechanic change out the battery charger and the batteries are maintaining. Everything finally works. Really enjoying the system now. The only picture I have of the install is below. I'll take more next time I'm up there.

I have a couple of questions about your radar. Is it 4g? Have you tried it yet? Do you see the bow of your boat on the screen? The reason I as is that on a 37 foot boat im guessing that the bow is in the 12 1/2 deg downward beam the radar produces at the height youve mounted it. I have a 39 foot boat and I'm trying to find people with some real world experience.

No I do not see the bow on my boat radars. With my mount and when the boat is on plane the radome is about level. I understand what you are saying with the angle, but no it is not visible. I love it, it works pretty good.

Well I made some progress. A buddy and I spent about 5 hours working on the install today. We got the new zincs installed, speakers installed, the fusion with XM wired to power and all the speakers wired up, installed 7 new ETA circuit breaker type switches to replace old broken ones, installed the NMEA 2000 back bone. All that's let is power to the GO9XSE, the new radar dome, the new transducer, and the new XM antenna. A couple more hours of work. Unfortunately the batteries were dead today so I didn't even get to fire it up, but the install does look nice. Just have a few loose ends to tie up.

I know this thread is over a year old but what did you do about the dinette speakers in the mirror panels. I haven’t figured out how to get to them. Thanks Jerry
