Do the 1997 Sedan 400 have any delamination issues and is there adequate gel coat to bring back a chalky finish? I had a problem with my Carver having thin gel coat..the detail guys burnt thru...a real mess.
You should be good to go for an all out assault with sandpaper or a heavy cut compound. I let my 2001 get away from me in the last few years and a medium grit compound by a pro a few days ago made it look brand new. But try a spot first and see how it goes.
The hulls seem pretty solid. I have not seen or heard of delamination issues on our model. Some hull blisters might be an occurrence on that year, but those are usually easily remedied. I can say that I believe Sea Ray did a substandard job on the bulkhead to hull joint on mine so I have a hard spot on both sides of the boat at that joint. It has caused some minor gelcoat spider cracks there.
