Thanks. It's been a great DIY project so far.

I'm glad I had a survey completed before purchasing ...... everything so far has been on the list or was factored into the negotiated price.

The big (happy) surprise was the cost of the new floor covering. I got twice as much covered for 1/2 the price of a precut cockpit carpet if purchased online. If anyone is in the Chattanooga, TN area and need new floor covering give Eddie Bell from the The Rug Pilot a call.

Had a great weekend on the water even spent a relaxing night out on the hook. :D

As I motored back to the marina this afternoon I swear this 98 290 DA is better built than my previous 2011 260 DA. Maybe it's because of the radar arch but the boat does not seem to flex as much as the 260 w/o the arch.

My baby finally got its name.

Had one of the plastic latches fall apart in my hand last week so I upgraded to stainless steel.

I might do all of them around the boat in the next few weeks.

For the love of everything Sea Ray.

Thin as a swizzle stick with monkey double jointed arms, must be the physical characteristics listed in a boat mechanics job description.

My "lets clean out the bilge" turned into 6 hours of toucher but it wasn't the cleaning..... I decided "well while I'm in here I'll check all the fluids" and during the generator oil check the little dipstick slipped from my hands landing deep under the port engine. OH CRAP.

I'm glad I read on CSR about using little wet/dry shop vac's for getting the water out of the bilge. I just happened to pick one up at Sears yesterday. Well I got the water out, cleaned everything up and then started to vac under the engine to hopefully suck up the dipstick. Well I got a hand full of tie wraps, hose clamps, wires and wire connectors and a few screws but no darn oil dip stick. Picture this .... 5'10"..... 270 .... getting down in the engine bay and sticking their head down under the engine...... can't picture it..... it can be done. After a few more looks and a few more choice words I spotted it and sucked it up to reinstall. :)

If there's one thing to take away from this if you have a generator that has this little stupid dipstick down by the base that you can hardly get your fingers on...... drill a hole in it's top tab and chain it off to something so if anyone ever drops it again .... it can be retrieved.

I'll add this to my "to do" list.

Genset maintenance is one of the finer joys of being a 290 owner. Just wait until you do the filter change

If I can squeeze my ass down in the engine compartment snagging that filter is going to be easy..... but I'll probably let the maintenance folks do it when they do everything else.

It was nice having some bonding time with my craft. Looked at all the systems, found my water leaks ..... transom which was on the survey and part of my over all repair plans and funds and a fresh water leak in a T fitting on the cold water side.

I'm pleased with how much light is down there with the factory installed lighting.

No big update this weekend but I did get my arch anchor light working. BTW I didn't know there were 2 positions for the arch light..... front only lit for running and both front and rear lit when used as an anchor light. ;)

If anyone is wondering what bulbs are in the arch light and in the red/green bow lights. Here they are...... Word to the wise..... buy at least one more bulb than you need. Had one of the new ones fall apart when I was trying to get it installed..... they fit pretty tight.

Yeah, they're super tight. I did LED's and broke one right in half putting it in

Here's my up coming to-do list.

Tossed all the 19 year old throw pillows....... ew. Can't believe they were still in the boat. (done)

Hey, I still have all of my original throw pillows. Original owner washed them every year and I do it twice a season. No smell and super soft.

haha I still have the originals too. Downstairs in garbage bags for the next owner ;)

I used LED's for the arch, cockpit & navigation lights, much cleaner and brighter light plus no heat to discolor the lenses. I'm halfway through ditching all the ugly reading lights to new LED's as well.
These are going everywhere. I like having the litter switches on them to turn them on individually except for the afternoon cabin which gets left on and used by the switch

Those light look really good and well priced. I was thinking of doing the same but was looking for some goldish fixtures to match everything else. How does the silver fixtures look with the other gold accents in the cabin?

I'm getting rid of all the tacky 90's "Italian nana" gold trim son it will all be gone as soon as I can replace it all.
Don't know when I'll get back there but I'll snap some pictures

Actually, mine didn't make it into the boat this year and have been in trash bags too. Still washed them twice though

Keep us posted on that, id like to do the same.

Thanks a lot for the 'Italian Nana Gold' phrase (sarcasm). It is a catchy phrase but now I can't see anything but gold on my interior. You are creating project synergy my friend!
And I'm thinking about getting clear plastic covers for my upholstery...

If you read my post on Sept 3rd you would know I really had a hate for my generator when I dropped the dipstick while I was checking the oil and it went hiding under the port engine........ hours later I found it while I was cleaning the bilge of other things left behind from previous repairs. So I ordered a replacement dip stick. Here are the part numbers if you have a Kohler 4ESZ. I'm planning on drilling a hole in the handle and attach it to the generator using a small chain or wire so if I drop it again it won't go far.
