Hello,
I have a 2000 310 Sundancer,
I'm interested in using Solar for weekend raft ups to keep my batteries charged for starting while they handle the minimal interior lights, toilet flushes, 12V Fridge, etc.
Any recommendations?
Thanks
Regards,
Art

one response (although a good one) .... Hmmmm ... No one uses Solar? You guys don't have issues during a raft up that other boats don't want generators running?

Hmm. I've always asked my raft-up neighbors if they minded if I run the generator for a bit and no one has every said not to run it.

Same here. Running the generator for a bit (not during sleeping hours) is a necessity for keeping the batteries charged. It just needs to be done responsibly. When on the hook, we're all in the same boat (pun intended) with needing to keep batteries fresh.

When rafting up I always tie to someone with a generator. I can connect my boat to theirs and get ac running and charge up my batteries.

Just a thought, but you might go further on your batteries (for the things you listed) than you think. I once went 3 days on ONE group 27 - a total of an hour, or so, engine run time that whole time. Fridge was running the whole time - occasional music - toilet flushes - some lights at night - anchor light on all night. I did change my 12V lights (anchor, interior, cockpit) to LED's, though. Still had plenty of juice to fire the motor right up on the last day.
