I am under contract for a 2000 Sundancer 260. It has a 5.7L. Owner was upfront about it needing a new ac/heat unit. I called a mechanic and he quoted me $1500-$1800 for the unit and $700 labor to install. Does that sound right?

Yep...sounds pretty close....fairly simple to do it yourself....access is the only issue...hook up two hoses and power....

Ohh man...I can't believe you had the guts to even post such a thing! It is with this mindset that I end up 12 hours, 3 new tools and 2 trips to West Marine into what should have been a 30 minute project. :)

Remove the aft cabin cushions, remove the panel at the end of the aft cabin, and there it is. 2-hoses, hook up electrical, and done….8-10k BTU is not too heavy….no guts, no glory, and save $700!!!!

My so in collegeis a bit of a mechanic. I think $200 ought to do it. Thanks!
