A friend of mine owns a marine repair facility and he recently acquired a salvage boat that struck a barge and sank in fresh water. He has removed the following usable items from the boat that are difficult to find if anyone has an interest. Thought with the recent hurricanes there may be someone in need. I know they have the following bigger items available:

- Full Windshield
- Radar Arch
- Rudders and Struts
- May be other salvageable items but you would need to contact them to see.

You can contact them at their business Washington Marine in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Hope everybody was OK. Thats my old stomping grounds.

Unfortunately, happens a lot on the Ohio River. Barges can be 1200' long with a small orange light way up front and running light way back on the tug. Loaded coal barges only stick up about 3-4 ft and they are virtually silent. The uninformed try to cut between the lights with the expected results, or I've seen them anchored up in the channel. Vessels of that size do not stop quickly.

From what I understand everyone is ok. I agree that the barges are sometimes very difficult to see at night due to the way they are marked lighting wise.

I spoke with the guy who is selling the parts today. I bought the whole boat for 3k... so you all are screwed im gonna mark everything up and repost it.

I am totally kidding but he was super nice and is getting me a few parts/prices. Says he had a ton of calls.

I would not have put it past you, to develop a source of spares

So does it have a hard top? Thanks Michael

We call them silent death on the Kanawha River. They are the major reason I want to add FLIR to my boat as soon as the boat buks come available. We are not getting any younger and they are getting harder and harder to spot at night.

If I were operating on any water that had commericial traffic, I would have radar, AIS transponder (they are not too expensive). A FLIR device would certainly be a great addition if your running at night.

Anything that makes us safer, easier to identify threats and for other boaters to see us is a welcome addition and smart boating.

I’m interested in the tachs if he took them off. They don’t have to be working.
