I wanted to share my helm remodel. I purchased the boat last year and it all started with the engine controls. I didn't like the dual controls that all the 340 DAs have so I switched them to single Teleflex controls on the right. I had Technografic make a plate to cover the hole in the dash to the left of the wheel. That worked great all year. Much easier to maneuver in tight spaces and you don't have to worry about slamming the gears due to high engine RPMs.

Then last fall I purchased a Raymarine E95 MFD and 18" radome. So I had Technografics make up a new panel where the old C80 was to fit the E95. I also purchased an i70 display and removed the speedo and put that in its place. IT is networked to the e95 so I can display speed, SOG, COG, DTW... Much more useful information than the speedo. I also purchased the module that converts the smartcraft data into NMEA2000 so I can display some engine and vessle data on the e95 and the i70 displays. I haven't taken the time to learn the new units yet so I am not sure how much info I can get rom the smartcraft yet.

The oval clarion stereo remote display was fading and I wanted to get a new VHF with DSC (Icom M424) so I moved the stereo remote to the blank panel where the engine controls used ot be to the left of the wheel and had Technografic make a panel to house the new VHF and cover the large hole that was left form the old Raymarine VHF and the smaller ole below from the old Clarion stereo remote.

Very nice!

Very Nice Jeremy :smt038 But tell me, how does the "Teleflex" controls work

so even with the B3's the 340's still had separate throttle and shift levers?

but if you read his first post "i didn't like the dual controls that all the 340's have so i switched to teleflex single controls on the right"

he doens't show a before/after photo

There were originally separate throttle and shift just like a v-drive 340da. I prefer a dual action controls so installed the Teleflex Osprey controls. They are not quite as smooth as the originals but I have more control with them. With outdrives I have to apply more throttle to get the boat to pivot the same as a v-drive so with these controls it give me that ability to do that without constantly changing sides of the helm.

Hi Jeremy, very nice job! In your post you mentioned a module that converts
the Smartcraft information to NMEA 2000. Is there a name/part number for that?
Where did you get it? Thanks.

It is called a Mercury gateway. Part number is # 84-8M0065208. They are about $350 now online. They convert the smartcraft information into nmea2000 signals so that the MFD can interpret them. As and FYI, wth the new Vessel View 7 you don't need the gateway because mercury built it into the Vessel View, there is a nmea2000 connection on the back of the unit.

Thanks Jeremy,
Unfortunately, I don't have Vessel View 7 so there's another 350 bucks I can tack on
to this years upgrade budget:grin:

Jeremy,

Do you have the template for the panel where your VHF is located? I contacted Technographic and they can't find it.

thanks

BTW, your PM is full
