Hey guys! I was advised by Sea Ray to come chat on here in regards to looking for an easy option to finding a set of replacement cushions for my 2006 240 Sundeck. Does anybody have any pointers or a rough estimate on cost to get them made?

Do you need the seat recovered or built from scratch including foam and backer?

More than likely going to be a custom job as I do not believe the original seat covers are made anymore. From what I heard the nickle color vinyl is not readily available. If you are looking for a single piece you might be able be able to source enough.

One of our members @Espos4 has some first hand experience in this matter. I would check out his post here:

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Kevin I appreciate you leading me that thread- can I just get him to do all of mine like he did his?! LOL. Im not skilled enough to do the repairs myself! Hats off to him! Impressive!

How bad are all your seats? If you are looking to reupholster them all then you can probably just go with all new colors so that they match. This is something that is probably best handled locally. Where are you located?

Kevin- I am located on Lake Marion in SC. A recover I would think would cost 3-4 thousand dollars? Not interested in that expense. Just want a fix for the ones that seem to be the worst...

I don't think you’ll find that nickel vinyl anywhere. If you happen to find it, you’ll need 12 yards to do the whole boat.

Another 8 yards of cream vinyl is needed too.

A full reupholstering including the helm seats is extremely labor intensive on that boat.

I did mine last winter and easily spent 8 hours just removing and installing the cushions. Each cushion has as many as 350 staples that need to be removed. 14 seats and back rests, 2 helm seats, side panels, Disassembling the bathroom ceiling, climbing into the bow storage bins to remove screws,
embroidery, you get the idea.

If you’re looking for an upholstery shop to do every bit of the labor, it could easily run $7-$8,000

You're probably right about being in the $4k (most likely alot more) range, it's a ton of work. Hit up @Espos4 he may still have access to the vinyl.

Espos4 I figured it would be an extreme job. Any tips on cleaning the existing ones? They are original, no major sun damage, they just need to be freshened up to make them feel soft again, not so coarse.

See attached for reference of the issue I have.

Post some pictures of the seats so we know what we are up against.

They look to be pretty good. I always recommend going from mild to harsh. I would start with a cleanup with Spray-9. If you still have issues maybe move up to Marinestrip. After that if it is mold related (in the plastic) I have heard good things about Marine31 (I can not personally vouch - but I will be trialing this spring). Beyond that it will be dependent on how far you want to push materials. I recommend staying away from bleach products (will dry out the vinyl and break down the stitching) and the magic eraser pads (they work like sand paper and remove the sealing of the vinyl coating. Whatever finally works I protect with 303 Aerospace Protectant.

If nothing works you can always look into spray dyeing the seats.

Y’all are wonderful! Thanks for the tips!
