2018 SDX 270 OB 300 Verado
Engines
Verado 300
Just thought I would share for future potential buyers.

2018 Sdx 270 with Verado 300 OB
In case you didn’t hear, the Verado 300 has been replaced and no longer available new. Not sure if Sea Ray will just offer the 350 Verado or the new 4.6l V8 outboard. Guess we will see.
Anyhow, here are the performance numbers. This is running an Enertia Eco 17P prop, not the stock prop.

3650 rpm, 26-27 mpg, 9 gph
4000 rpm, 30 mph, 10.1 gph

WOT 6300 rpm, 48 mph, did not record fuel burn but expect it in the 28-29 gph range.

So the Verado 350 is a Supercharged Inline 6, and the 250/300 is the 4.6L V8. Which engine comes on the 270 SDX now?
Is there a new Verado? I'm off to surf Merc's website.
Thems some definitely decent Fuel Burn numbers.
I'll bet it sounds awesome.

The Verado as we know it will continue for the 350 and 400.
The new "Verado" refers to the mid section and down which can be mated to various engines. Gone is the inline supercharged 6 for the 250-300 replaced by the 4.6 v8.

The supercharged 6 is amazingly smooth, whisper quite, and jumps out of the hole since the boost is available from 600 rpm. Also, not bad on fuel.

After I ordered mine, a friend bought a leftover 2017 of the same boat but he has the Mercruiser 6.2 350 hp with a bravo 3. We lined them up 2 weeks ago with similar loads. I jumped out in front of him in the first 5 seconds and continued to pull away for the entire run. Once I was 20 boat lengths in front of him I let off.

Just bought a 2017 SDX 270 OB 2 weeks ago. Love the boat! Getting a marbles rolling around in the steering column type sound when at a low idle. Sound has gotten progressively worse over. Trying to start with checking the power steering fluid but can’t figure out where the pump is......?

Pump is under the rear floor cooler in the transom walkway.
There is a small access door in the large storage trunk on the starboard wall with 4 screws. It provides access to the reservoir for checking and adding fluid.
Some marble noise is normal. Can easily bleed the system as well to see if it helps.

In case you ever need access to it, the trim pump is under that rear floor cooler as well. Pop off the door pneumatic cylinder, remove the catch screws and screws holding the cooler insert and remove the entire liner insert.

The external fuel filter spin on canister is another hidden gem. Remove the eight screws holding all the shelving in the rear of that large trunk and the spin on fuel filter is behind there at the back of the inside of the swim platform. Actually called my friend at the factory cause I couldn’t find that thing. Never thought to disassemble that shelving.

I get some air bubble/marbles noise as well on my 290SDX, from what ive been reading its "normal" when the system heats up.

My twin 225 Verado's have been yielding great efficiency as well. with 11 people on board, all their luggage from a weekend trip, plus a half tank of fuel (70 gallons) I was getting 1.8 statute miles per gallon on a trip from Marthas Vineyard to Plymouth in flat calm seas.

paulswagelock, how do you rate the reliability overall with your boat? Ive had a couple minor issues but overall LOVE this boat. The anchor windlass tripped and I can't find the reset or breaker for it anywhere, I also lost power to my head and can't find the breaker for that either.. Also my transducer stopped reading depth and water temp. They're all on the list for winter warranty work as it hasn't effected the my day to day use of it and, like I said, i'm very happy with this purchase. It rides unbelievable in rough water and even with 15 people on board (yes 15) has ZERO problems getting on plane, she rides very level even with people moving around. Only thing I dont like is with the added weight of the twin outboards so far back the swim platform sometimes lays under water. While my boat is on the mooring the swim ladder takes a beating from the salt water.

I get tons of looks and compliments on the boat... People think its awesome that I can beach a big boat so easy without issue. My barber even told me he had a client come in and "show him a picture of his next boat"... it was a picture on his iPhone of my boat on the mooring haha. Outboard motors are the way to go

I have had several small items as well with the boat, not the motor.
Loose screws, loose brackets, rattles, dash light stopped working, etc. So far all things I can just take care of except the dash light, can't get access without pulling that dash panel.

I get compliments everywhere as well.
