    I read the problem is related to a lack of longshoreman willing to work. The delays in unloading ships is causing a traffic jam and a shortage of places to anchor.

    That’s exactly what happened. If you reread my original post, you’ll see that I mentioned they didn’t realize the anchor had been deployed. They noticed when they got to port that the chain was deployed and when they hauled it all back up, there was no anchor.

    Somewhat amazing the captain did not know that the anchor was not retrieved. I suppose these tugs have so much towing capability that an anchor is somewhat trivial in terms of the drag it creates.
