Hi,
Looking at an '07 270 SLX this weekend to potentially replace our 260 Sundeck.
496 HO, Bravo III, DTS & closed cooling I believe.
Anyone here with this generation boat ever put a camper top on it ?
We get rained on occasionally & would consider spending the $$ if we can find a well made set-up.

Thank You
Steve C

There was a factory option for it. However, the arch and bimini were small in that era so it isn’t overly roomy.

Wasn't able to find a factory option through any of the canvas suppliers including Great Lakes. I'll keep searching.

Thanks for the reply

You might do better by calling Great Lakes directly. In most cases, all of the canvas (bimini, bow and cockpit, too) would have been made by GL - but check the tags on the canvas that you have. I don't recall if the canvas package was available with a tower, though - it may have only been available with the bimini. I'm not 100% sure on that - but it seems to ring a bell.

Worst case, have someone local make it for you - which is a good way to go, as well.

Based on the parts listed by Sea Ray it looks like the 2007 270SLX has an enclosure option for the Bimini Top model. While this is not a full camper it did include the forward visors, side curtains and the slant aft curtain.

If you are interested in getting more information on this canvas option please fill out our request form (please make sure to include HIN) and I will get the parts profile from Great Lakes and follow up with you. Our company is a CSR sponsor and distributes factory replacement canvas from GLBT for Sea Ray boats and we also run a discount program for CSR members. If you fill our request form and would like me to call you please leave your best contact number and indicate best time to call in the comments.

If you would like to call me you can get my contact info from the web at www.covemarine.com and call me.

Thanks,
-Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Ours will be with the arch/ water sport tower. I've found a few pics of the same boat with what must be a custom made camper top.

The side shot is the boat we will look at tomorrow.

2 hour drive today to have a look turned into a letdown. Boat has been run hard & put away wet many many times.
Tried to keep an open mind about it saying to myself .........fixable, fixable on all the soft issues as vinyl, door latches, minor corrosion on/around stainless parts. Trim sensor, engine error code, leaking manifold etc. "I can fix all this easily".
Then I pulled the dipstick on the 496. Lots of oil in it, however, a little gritty as I rubbed it between my fingers. Tried it again 4-5 more times with same result & Owner saw it & agreed. Closed the hatch & left it on the trailer. I'll keep looking.

Too bad it wasn't maintained. I can tell you first hand that, when properly maintained, it is a fantastic boat. Handles like a sports car and has tons of storage. I know for sure that the camper canvas was an option on our boat, but we have the bimini and not the tower. Good luck on your search!!

Need to kiss a lot of toads to find a prince....
I remember my search for the 270 Slx. Ended up far away from home to purchase a nice one. They are out there, keep looking.

Hmmmm........
Found a '13 300 SLX just outside Montreal, PQ. Real beauty with a full canvas enclosure & an additional forward set-up like a tent over the bow. Twins & a really nice boat. About a 10 hour drive or a 2 hour flight after a 2 hour drive to the closest airport. Ours was just shutdown. Zero flights, none.
Talked to Jane about it a few times & have a plan.
Drive to Moncton , NB & from there fly to Montreal. Leave the airport with a rental, self isolate for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks go look for a 3/4 ton truck.
Get the truck & then buy a trailer for the boat. Buy the boat & pull it home. Isolate for 2 weeks upon return home.

Maybe .....
