290 sundancers 1994-midyear 97 "We need a thread"

It is a nice looking boat, mine is not. LOL

Mechanically, it is in ok shape. A few things I have to fix, but I had it pulled out of the water when I bought it for power wash and complete mechanical check. I'm told everything was checked. While it was out of the water, I had them install a new transducer to work with the chart plotter I plan to install. So far I have had the the cockpit seating redon, new canvas, cockpit flooring in a bot in the garage waiting to be installed sitting right next to the new dash, gauges, and switches. Sadly I live in California (not for long I hope), and the boat sits in the water in North Carolina. So time to work on it is limited.

I lived in Ca in the 80's during college. Two years ago I had a lucrative opportunity to move back there...which I didn't. NY is bad enough but Ca has gone way, way over the deep end even since I've been there!

Wow, you and your boat couldn't have gotten farther apart. How often are you able to get to her?

Not as often as I'd like. Just a few times a year for now. The idea is to move there full time. Maybe sooner than later. I feel like I'm in a twilight zone episode living in CA.

It's become a very weird place to be...

Where do you guys mount your hailer? The arch is the obvious place, but feedback and a headache are my concerns. Anyone have experience?

I have a 1994 Sundancer 290 with twin 4.3 mercruiser stern drives. Boat had set for a few years before getting it. Check oil and all fluids got the engines running. engines crank andrand idle fine until approximately 3,500 RPM at that point advancing the throttle will not change the engine speed. Checked fuel and all appears clear. Both engines will rev to exactly the same rpm and hold that speed regardless of any action. Any ideas on what is holding them back. What size props are everyone running?

Hey gents, Can any of you ID these boards on my 97 290DA? Thanks.

confirm, but I think one is missing

And another one... or three questions about my 97 Sundancer 290DA.
-How do I turn the macerator on? I don't seem to have any switches for it. Pic below that I do have one...
-What is the process for offshore (three miles plus...) emptying of the tank work?
-What is the key for on the breaker panel in the below pic?
-The final pic is my water tank right? What is the mechanism on top/side for?

Key is usually in the head for pump

So here is my head panel. Hadn't had a chance to look close at it yet...
So, if I have a full tank offshore or I just want to test the system:
- Find and open the seacock.
- Turn the key in the head.

What's labeled "macerator" is a light right?

Anything else?

Should be all. Wouldn't pump out anything to test though

Thanks. I was thinking about putting some water in it for a test. Oh, you mean you wouldn't want to pump anything out of mine to test it right? Yes, I agree. I wouldn't want that on my lawn lol
Now for the key in the breaker panel. The panel in the cockpit area. What is that for?

Can't advise on that. Haven't had one with that feature before

Does your 290 have dual 4.3s? If so. What props are you running

Still trying to figure out a couple of things... Is this first pic for the vacuflush system? It's not the water tank. I put some water in yesterday and that's not where it went. This tank has hoses similar to the waste tank also.
What is this key for in the second pic?

I'm trying to figure out why for two years nothing was posted in this thread. Is the other thread about later models 290's where things were mistakenly posted? I'm considering a purchase of a '97 290 with twin 4.3's and no generator. Thing is, I plan to use the boat on the hook overnight. I'm in Louisiana therefore A/C is not an option. What to look for with an inspection? How difficult is a gen install?
