does anyone have any idea why a transmission would make a hig pitched whine for a bit and then stop? when i am first running the boat i will hear a whine ( iguess thats a good description) it almost sounds like a vacuum type nois that will climb in pitch for a bit and then stop and everything runs fine. not sure what this is or how to troubleshoot it. When i take the left engine out of gear it stops and then starts when put back in. this happens for about 1-2 minutes and then stops.

Sounds like the oil pump in the tranny. Not sure why it is doing that though. It is common to hear the pump when in reverse, but it is constant then.

when i first heard it it almost sounded like the heard had pumped the bowl dry and it was sucking air. i cant figure it out.

How's your trany oil level? Speaking of oil, when was the last time you changed it, including the filter?

thats why i was kind of worried because it was all just changed at teh beginning of the season

I see, so the oil is fresh, but how's the level and the condition of the oil? Do you see if it's clean or has anything in it?

Output shaft bearing? My old boat's transmission would squeel at very low RPM's but would go away by 1100 rpms. Never did fix it.
