340 SUNDANCER THREAD

Anyone have any issues with the rear stringer on their engine hatch ? Below you’ll see the area of damage circled. the horizontal stringer is shot, absolutely just a shell and needs to be replaced, the vertical one up to the hatch piston is soft and needs to be replaced. Thinking it’s maybe from the water hoses to the fresh water wash down?? Unsure… any insight on this??

May find that more than just the support is in need of repair. I just had to have my entire rear hatch/deck rebuilt. Lots of water intrusion into the core. Worst was near access panels and the pass throughs for the hoses and electrical into the laz.

I had a noticable deflection when stepping near that area but the first signs are the transom door not aligning or changing alignment.

Does anyone know where to get replacement curtains for the cabin windows above cabinets and also the curtain to separate the bed and cabin?
Boat I’m buying has neither

thanks !

Sent you a private message if you can check. Thanks

Any one with 99-2002 340 DA with 7.4 L 310 HP 3 blade props change to 4 blade props . and maybe DROP FINS or larger trim tabs , and is there a significant difference in running attitude and planning ??

I have an 02 with the 6.2's. 2nd season i extended trim tabs and drop fins. The tabs actually did something and pushed the nose down. 3rd year I put on Acme 4 blade props. Different boat, jumps out of water, stays on plane at least 500 rpm less. Mid range cruise dropped 1 GPH. Very happy with both upgrades. I have attached a drawing of the tab extensions that bolt on to original ones and drop fins

What are the props that you used and what company did you get them from?

I had a 99 340 with 4 blades and the bite when docking was awesome as well. That was a great setup for close quarters maneuvering.

Do you have a Pic of the tab extensions?

The attachment in yellow is the tab extensions that get bolted on, the drop fins are the other attachment.

Acme props out of Grand rapids Michigan. Had 17 x 19 3 blades and they took me to 17 x 17 4 blades with a .105 cup.
Best money spent on boat. Major difference.

My current anchor line continually gets kinked when I try to retrieve the anchor. I am curious what type of line others are using?

Not sure what you mean by "kinked". That said, the standard 3-strand anchor rode gets very stiff over time. I finally replaced mine last year with 150 feet of new rode (very flexible) spliced to 75 feet of chain. Works great.

I was thinking the same thing. I’m sure most know (but I’ll say it anyway) that removing the anchor line from the boat and soaking it in fabric softener really helps if the line is stiff. I have done this on my last boat, and it extended the life by about two years.

I do that to my dock lines every fall.

Installed a simrad ap44 medium duty kit, with a rudder feedback sensor and the go9 xse mfd 3 years ago now. Installed the pump and the computer behind the insert to the right of the helm seat, and installed the compass behind the dash against the bulkhead between the cabin stairs and the dash, so it would be close to center line.
Create the routes in the navionics phone app, sync them to the mfd, load the route, hit nav and the autopilot does everything else. Best upgrade ever.

As an aside, I installed the mente-marine auto tab controller at the same time, so now I turn that on, fire up the route in the mfd and I'm relegated to just monitoring the gauges while the computers do everything else.

Have been trying to figure out a non-destructive and easy means of installing semi permanent solar on the Bimini (as opposed to putting foldable panels up everytime we anchor). Found some large magnets on Amazon that you can bolt to flexible solar panels using the existing eyelets, and the secure to the Bimini using an additional set.

They survived two trips to Catalina thus far. Going to add two more panel's to the aft Bimini, which in total should churn out 16-18 amps when the sun's up.

We changed over to Garmin from original Raymarine. Put a 7610 in place of the Raymarine GPS, removed the worthless speedometer, added Garmin MFD display, N2000 network, Garmin Reactor AP and SeaStar Hydrolic steering. Absoutely wonderful system. Even has a remote for the AP.
