40 sedan bridge forum

I'll try this question here. I am looking to learn about selecting and installing inverters. I want to put my "galley systems" breaker on an inverter rather than the house 120v wiring. That way I get the tv, fridge, microwave and several outlets all available to battery when on the hook. Microwave is the big draw at 1200 watts. I would mount it above battery charger so it would be close to batteries. I'd then run the 120v wire from it to the breaker. Not sure if I need to disconnect the breaker from house 120v wiring or there is some way to combine the inverter power and house power at the breaker. Have any of you done this project?

Update: after further research I'll stick with the generator. Would have to reconfigure to add better house batteries and not interested in that

A really simple work around for everything but the microwave would be the 12V TV and a small inverter for an 110 outlet. The fridge is likely AC/DC and the microwave is a huge load.
what model gen do you have. I just got my 400 and plan on running mine a lot.

I have a small 400w inverter I rig up for the TV. I think I'll just permanently mount that behind the tv for the tv and the direct tv receiver and call it done

Small side comment: I may be mistaken but I don’t think all of the 400s had AC/DC refrigerators. Weren’t they originally AC-only?

Mine is DC only. When connected to shore power, the battery charger keeps the batteries charged that are being used to run the fridge.

My 2000 had an original AC/DC refrigerator it has been replaced with a Norcold AC/DC

I recently bought a Garmin back up camera however my Garmin Chartplotter does not support video my question is what type on DC monitor is the best for the Garmin camera

So you have 8 speakers on the bridge including two subwoofers? I guess your boating priorities are a lot different than mine.
Ha!, nah, 5 were there when I bought it with 2 in the arch. I’ve just upgraded them all. Doesn’t have to be loud, but it’s nice when it sounds good.

Roger. Did they put the two in the arch where existing factory access holes are, or did they cut new holes. Would love to see pictures of the locations of the additional bridge speakers that aren't the three factory installs.

Regarding the width of the boat, the manual for the 400 shows the beam at 14'3". Does anyone happen to know the widest measurement of the width of the boat at the waterline? I would imagine it's not that much less, but I suspect it could be something like 13'6" to 13'9"?

Not sure at the water line. Mine sits in a 15' wide slip that is 15'-7" between the dock posts. It's enough that I don't have to worry about ever hitting the hull itself on the dock, as my rub will hit the posts that sit at 15-7. To protect the rub rail, I have rollers on the entrance, and 2 pair on the sides. If you're sliding into a 15' wide open slip with nothing above it to catch the rub rail, that might be pretty tight.

That's great to know! My slip is 16' (so I'm told) and there is a roller on the finger pier (the other side is just a post). I knew I'd fit, I was just curious how tight it would be. Thanks!

Mine is 14’3” in a 16’ slip. Fits snug, but perfect. I can only see the port aft corner of the swim platform when backing in, but I know when that corner is just inside the finger pier, it is time to bump her back.
