40 sedan bridge forum

Thanks 50 Gal. Would. Be great are you having a tank made or are they available from a supplier

I purchased a '97 last year and was going to the pumpout station every other week. I was thinking of changing to a larger tank as well, but was not sure what all would be involved in changing. Please post your progress on this project and any difficulities you run into. Also the link you posted takes me an empty shopping cart. Can repost the item? Thanks in advance and good luck with your project!

I will be glad to post, won't happen till March (to cold) but will keep you posted...if you scroll down on the link it will show you the tank...

I have a 2003 the listing said 40 Gal but I am not sure.I have get in there and see if the tank is marked with the capacity .It does not appear to look like it can hold 40 Gals.

I had always thought my 1999 had 40 gallon capacity but now you have me wondering. We should be able to determine capacity by dimensions. I will check mine next week and post results.

Roosevelt14 Have you measured the cockpit hatch for installation?

If I remenber right it should fit, I checked last Summer....But I was also looking at differant tanks , So I better check again now that I have picked this tank!!

When I did check I had to move the genny so I could get the tank in the engine compartment, after that there was room to slide it in place....I know I will have to take the battries out and exhaust tubes, But Like I said before I am going to replace all the hose in the boat at the same time, Should be a real fun job:smt021

Hello Sea Ray 40 Sedan Bridge community! I am in the process of purchasing a 2000 model with the 2116 Cats with 580 hours and 200 hours on the gen. Going to survey in 2 weeks and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of things to look for that they have found to be common issues with these beautiful yachts. I already know about the vitricore delamination issues and the early issues with the 3116 casting blocks. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Welcome! Good luck on the survey. I have an older model with the 3116s. Love 'em. There is a lot more wisdom around here than me, so hopefully they will weigh in. Search for links to related topics, many threads help identify the checklist you will want to create for yourself.

Keep us posted, and Merry Christmas!

Good luck! Where are are you purchasing the boat from? Fresh water kept or salt water kept?

Water on starboard side of bilge.

I am thinking it is my water heater. Has anyone replaced their water heater without pulling the boat? What make/model should I consider? Thoughts appreciated....

I'm not sure of the 40DB configuration ,but you might ck the T&P valve on the heater as well as all connections. The " valve " on mine had a slight drip. After exercising the relief valve a couple of times the drip stopped. However, water continued to show up in the bilge. With water pump on , I got my ear up close and personal to the heater and heard a hissing noise. After removing 25 screws, I removed the cover and found a hairline crack in a weld. I decided to purchase a new identical Atwood E20-220. I'll have the weld repaired and put all new fittings and element and keep as inventory. If you decide to replace you heater, make sure you use new hardware including T&P valve, element and appropriate ck valve(s). Good Luck , Tim

Hey Ken. It is a salt water boat. She is located in LA...I am in SF. If she passes the survey and sea trial next week, I will be motoring up the CA coast later in the month.
