410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Yes, it was installed aftermarket. Our 400 is 1998 and we have no 110VVAC convenience outlets in cockpit. It is so handy for winter time heater or summer fan.

You don't have one under your aft bench, starboard side? If no outlet do you have a blank plate installed just below and forward of the "step"? I slip next to a 99 400DA and it's outlet location is identical to my 97. It would have been odd for them to do something different in 98 and then come back :)

I run a fan behind the helm. I've come to accept running an extension cord back to that outlet. But your setup makes me want to do some wiring work. ha.

One of my best "cool mods" was when I had the icemaker out for service. I plugged a 10' 3-prong extension cord into the icemaker outlet and ran it behind the side panel into the storage locker. It comes in handy on a weekly basis.

I want to add an outlet by my right knee at the helm for various uses. Not a hard project...access is great once you pull the plastic insert. The outlet behind the door is almost as useful as the AC outlet back there. That does a great job of keeping the door warm/cool!

My outlet back under the seats is a nightmare...aluminum box screwed to the fiberglass and has seen a lot of salt and corrosion.

One of these days...

This is a great tip! And by far the lowest cost modification you've ever suggestion on this forum. I hope the extension cord you installed was at least Garmin brand? :)

And for the record - this is now on my list to do this winter! My ice maker has to come out...she's in need of service.

I did the same thing with my ice maker outlet with a 5 plug-in power strip under the bench seat next to the helm.

I’d like to have one back in the trunk.
That would motivate me to get an electric Weber BBQ and rig it for use with my Grill A Mount so I could use it on the platform.

That would not be a hard project. You likely have an open AC breaker spot on the AC panel , so you could run a dedicated 15A or 20A circuit back there and access on the starboard side of the boat is pretty good. The hardest part is getting the wire fished from the helm behind the aft head and into the electrical area in front of the head. A good fish tape makes it pretty easy.

I thought about it after I saw how relatively easy it was for me to fish the wire for the new Fusion wired remote to the helm from the head unit.
The problem has been that we really haven’t wanted to grill enough on the boat to motivate me, but one of these days I’ll get around to it.
The generator has made me pretty lazy. Too easy to run it on the hook and throw a quick meal together in an ice cold air conditioned cabin. Or, at least watch my wife get a meal together......

If you pull the medicine cabinet in the aft head you have really good access to that wire channel.

I don’t have a medicine cabinet in the aft head, but I was able to get good access behind the electric panel.

How do you pull that cabinet?
If I remember correctly, there are screws sort of on the underside of the top, slightly inside the cabinet. I would have to look to be sure. You pull them out and then wrangle the unit out. It's all one piece. I have a 120v outlet in mine, so I had to pull the faceplate off and loosen that, but was able to get the cabinet out but leave the outlet in place.

Overall not a hard job, and it really opens up access along that Starboard hull.

My outlet is behind where the cabin door sits when open.
Really dumb place for it.
I added a dedicated 20 amp circuit with receptacles port & starboard under the steps next to the lights. Works great for fans, heaters and cooking devices not to mention Christmas lighting for parades!

I did this last year. I tied into the GFI in the aft head and ran a line back to the cockpit to a double-gang with one side being 3-prong outlets and the other side being 4 USB outlets. It's easily the most useful upgrade I've ever made to the boat. Someone constantly has at least two phones plugged in back there.

Thats what I was wondering...

Where is your factory installed cockpit outlet located.
Mine is on the port side just before the cabin door.
When the cabin door is open it blocks the outlet.
