410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Hey everyone just returned from a 2 1/2 week trip to the North Channel from our home dock on Lake Simcoe. The 400DA performed awesome, and the boat had enough room for the 4 of us without everyone wanting to kill each other! Unbelievably the Cats used LESS fuel then the same trip last year in a 290DA with twin 4.3’s!!

Here’s a pic of our boat docked with our friend in Killarney. (Looks like David and Goliath lol)

My 24 inch shower bar slide rail was corroding in the back and started leaving stains on the shower wall. Never thought I’d find an exact replacement but Delta makes one. Screws lined up perfectly. It’s a Delta 51751 glide rail hand shower, chrome.

Can anyone tell me where the shift module for a 2001 410 Sundance is. It’s electronic. Blue black green black wire disappear out of engine room. Don’t see it under helm. Is it to the right of your feet when at the helm. Behind speaker
My 2000 410 DA with Cat 3126's does not have a "shift module" there are 6 micro switches on the helm shift lever controls that control Forward- Neutral safety- Reverse. The wires connect directly to the shift solenoids on the ZF-800 V drive trans.

Beautiful boat! I hope to upgrade to something around a 400 one day... couple more years. Just got back from our 2 week trip to Georgian Bay as well. We had another couple stay with us for 4 nights on our little 270... Certainly helped convince the wife we need a bigger boat haha - that was the plan all along, now she's on board :D

What marina you at in Simcoe? We are at Brentwood in Kempenfelt

We are at Krates, and I have seen your boat before (recognized the name). We are Leukothea!

Well I am now the owner of the 2002 410 Sundancer. The deal closed yesterday.

A quick update from my initial post, notably the status of the issues that were noted during the survey.

1. Generator not starting. The generator was jump started and my broker sent me video of it running. Of course there still remains the issue of why the battery was dead. But the gen works fine

2. Oil leak from recently rebuilt port engine. Quinn Caterpillar came the next day and found a bad fitting. Replaced and now there is no leak.

Also since a lot of people asked about WOT, I found the following line in my mechanical survey:

"Vessel was sea trialed off shore of Dana Point Harbor and achieved 2900 RPMS on both engines. Cat engines are rated @2800 RPMS."

So I think that is good.

Now it is just a matter of getting it moved 100 miles north, getting a slip, and learning how to operate it! I will update with better pictures at my first opportunity.

Sounds like you bought one from an owner that really knew what they were doing. Congrats!

Congrats!!! Awesome boat!

I would check to make sure the survey RPM was taken with a photo tach, not the helm tachs. If that’s what your getting at sea trial, by the time you load her up with fuel beer people and crap, you’ll likely be at 2825-2850 which would be right on the mark!

I accumulated a little water in the bilge after a 2 hour run in some rather sporty conditions a couple days ago. I seem to recall a post in here from someone (Don maybe?) pointing to the cockpit drain through hulls being the culprit. Anyone remember the fix? I’m assuming it’s just a bad bedding job or the hoses need a better seal, I haven’t looked that close yet.

we don’t accumulate water in calm conditions and nothing while sitting so it was definitely from thay run. I never stuffed the bow but it plunged a couple times up to the rubrail so that could also be a source but I saw a wet trail in the far aft port corner

Give your engine air inlets a good look. I pulled them to put in new exhaust outlet covers, and pulled the old caulking. Ever since, I get a little water in the bilge with a heavy rain.

it’s on my list of things to do.

You guys only stayed the one night, right? I watched you guys take off. I wanted to walk over and have a look before you departed. I missed my chance.

We had such a blast up in Elk last week. What a great spot. As evidenced by your photo we used their dinghy shuttle service twice to get up on the upper harbor. There's so much to do up there!

I ran into 3 other CSR members in Leland on my way back this weekend. Small world!

I just completed my first long(ish) trip with my extended platform and the center console dinghy I added in 2021. I still need to fill up the gas tank one last time but I'm trending toward my fuel mileage not changing with the 500lbs dinghy and extended platform. It's looking like I'm still right at 0.7 statute MPG. 400 miles, 570 gallons +/-.

EDIT - I missed a receipt on my fueling! Looks like my mileage did go down a bit. 0.64MPG...outstanding!

We hit Frankfort, Elk Rapids and Leland during our trip. We also stopped in Pentwater for some fuel (a stop you diesel guys could have avoided :)).

Northern Michigan does not disappoint (in summer)...

beauty. What speed do you run most of the time?

I just had to make an edit...I missed a receipt for gas. Looks like my mileage did suffer a bit. More like 0.64mpg vs 0.71 I last calculated (with no dinghy).

I cruise between 22-23kts. With a following wind/sea yesterday it was closer to 24kts. 3,600rpm...
