410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Thanks guys, on this fresh water pump, no breakers/switches were off so I am stumped. Worked great one day, nothing the next. I'm gonna mess with it and see if I can get it to work especially if only three years old. I had a bunch of people and a big cooler on the cockpit deck so didn't raise it to look yet. Where is this thing mounted? Also, what GPM should I shoot for? I wouldn't mind having more water pressure. The washdown at the anchor locker wasn't ever very strong. (Carter, appreciate your insights! I need to move the boat back next to you since you know it better than me!)

Cocktail it should be mounted on the bulkhead forward the port engine. Turn it on and see if it's running. If it is it may have just lost prime (happened to me). Mine was a 3.5 GPM and 40 PSI (Jabsco). If I remember right I discounted the portside hose with it running (you will get wet trying to reconnect:D) and when the water started spraying out I shoved the hose back in and push up on the blue locking device and it starting working fine. There may be an easier "less wet" way to do this but I kinda did mine by accident. I wasn't thinking when I disconnected the hose and I was by myself so I couldn't go in the cabin and turn it back off. I would also check the screen right at the pump and make sure that it's not clogged. I don't have a picture of the pump on my computer so I'm going to check my phone and if I do I'll post a picture of it. Good Luck

Here's a picture of the pump. I was taking a picture of the label but you can see the filter and blue locking clips. Not sure why its sideways.

Interesting that the pump for the 400 is in the bilge. On the 410 it's in the forward stateroom hatch in front of the bed. Much quieter having it in the bilge. I wonder why they moved it.

Hah...speak for yourself! I think my bilge-mounted water pump is actually louder than my generator :)

Because they moved the tank. The tank on the 400 is under the aft and port sections of the mid-berth bench.

I find it interesting that EZ's pump is on the bulkhead. I've only seen them on the transom.

Check for power at the pump. If you have power then the pump is probably shot.
The pump you posted the picture of looks like it has a max draw of 17 amps. Can that be right? Can your breaker and wiring handle that?
If it were me I would get the max GPM that was within the limits (amp draw) of my existing breaker and wiring.
Example: My fresh water breaker is rated for 10 Amps. Presumably (based on the distance of the run) the factory installed wiring for the fresh water pump that could handle that too. So I would look for a pump that had a max draw of 10 amps.
Read the specs for possible replacement pumps and make sure they don’t draw more amps than you’re breaker is rated for.
The other thing to consider is that the aerators in your faucets probably restrict flow to something less than 2 GPM anyway so unless you regularly use multiple faucets at the same time it probably doesn’t make sense to push the limits of your existing wiring and breaker for the sake of having a pump with a GPM output of more than you’d use.
I rarely use the dockside water inlet, but the few times that I have used it there was no really noticeable difference in water pressure in the galley sink or shower over what my 3.3 GPM pump puts out.

Has anyone replaced the telescoping 3 step swim ladder on their 400 Sundancer? Ours, unfortunately, is at the bottom of Lake Michigan. Well, most of it. It is still bolted to the platform, but all but one rung somehow broke off yesterday when someone put it down.

I've found some options on the usual sources (Flounder Pounder, Great Lake Skipper, etc) but was wondering if anyone has experience with specific parts that are a good fit. It looks like it may be Sea Ray Part 0941344 or 0973636.

This looks like a match, but just wondering if anyone has used it before. http://www.searay-parts.com/3-Step-Ladder-w-Grab-Rail-p/ladr30001-3-step-ladder.htm

You can probably try calling Sea Ray customer service with their part number and ask them who their original supplier was and what that supplier’s part number was.
I’ve had some luck doing it that way over the years.

I’m coming from the dark side (460 group). I think your swim ladder is manufacturerd by gg Schmidt. I had to call them and they were wonderful. Take a pic of what you have and they will help you.

Thanks @NotHerDecision, that sure looks like it. I took some measurements and pictures on Sunday, but there is one dimension I didn't get. Thanks for directing me to them!

Your swim ladder was made by GG Schmidt, original pn is L08E3103. It is no longer made but they have a replacement L08E3105-RP1.

Brace yourself as it is expensive. However if you are the original owner of the boat they will replace it for free.

Contact Jessica Martin at jmartin@ggschmidt.com or 717-394-3701. I just got one from her for my 97 400 DA.

I replace my fresh water mater pump earlier this year. I bought a Shurflo Aqua king 4 gpm off eBay. I think less than $150. Mine was in the front bilge. 4 screws to mount and hand tighten water fittings.

It could be a faulty pressure switch which are separate and replaceable.

I choose the 4 gpm as it would not exceed the breaker it was installed on (10a as I recall). I have decent water pressure for the sinks and shower, but the wash down at the anchor locker and swim platform are weak. I have considered a blaster pump for those locations.

On the anchor wash down and swim platform shower, before going all nuclear on the pump thing, check to see if one or both are anti-siphon or back flow spray heads. Sea Ray used them on some models where the shower or spray hose was long enough for the spray head to dangle in the water in order to keep you from accidently siphoning yourself a tank full of lake or seawater. A couple of replacement spray heads is a bunch cheaper than adding a pump and plumbing.

I’ll take a look at that. I don’t think the anchor locker has one, as it’s just a hose fitting.

The nozzle on the hose in my anchor locker is aftermarket and it’s still anemic. Not as bad as the shower wand back by the transom door, but not great at all.
I don’t care too much about the shower wand but it sure would be nice to be able to wash the muck off of the anchor and chain with a little more force.

I've read that you have to remove the fridge cabinet to fit a new fridge through the companionway door...is this the case with vitrofrigo AND norcold....or just vitrofrigo?
