420 DA Thread

Tom
Did it tend to get hot in the direct Sun.We are in Florida and I am worried about how hot the material gets. Thanks

Steve
I chose Sea Dek. It came with a 3 year warranty against anything but abuse. The fit is perfect. Had one corner come up, made the call, fixed in 48 hours with no questions asked by our local dealer. It gets warm like anything else in the sun but much cooler than anything else we stand on. Easy to clean (use nearly anything on it). The discoloration you see is just water.

Wow looks great.I have the local Sea Dek dealer coming on Thursday to measure and give me an estimate.Any thing that you would do different regarding the design and install. Thanks
Steve

I'm also a Sea Dek fan. Had mine over 5 years and it's still in excellent shape.

The attached picture below shows it a bit better. The different color is just water on the deck.

Nothing. I think it is the bomb. Storm Gray is the color in brushed finish in mine.

Buyajet, you don't have your location in your Bio to the left. Are you in salt or fresh water? Is you slip covered or under the stars?

My boat lives under a roof so that may contribute to the longevity of the the product. I'd be curious to hear how Sea Dek holds up in exposed sun and salt water.

Thank you. I am under the stars in Orange Beach, Alabama (see pic attachment). Salt. I had it installed a year ago. This is made for the environment.

Sea Dek looks like the winner. Curious can any one give me a ballpark cost per square Foot.

The routing of the air conditioning discharge thru hull hose from the a/c unit in the master bedroom in my boat has a loop in it before it exits. Tech team says this is intentional "for pressure" purposes. I continue to get a ton of silt built up in this line due to our marina water being so nasty so I have to blow this line a lot. Every 2-3 weeks to keep it flowing correctly in the summer. I have an oversize pump and 1" lines leading to the unit (replaced the 5/8").

My Q is do all 420's have this loop in the discharge line to thru hull from the unit? I want to make sure before I tear this loop out that there is no downside. Thanks.

OK, so I think we all will admit that we are ALWAYS discovering new things about our boats even though we thought we new everything.....so i’d Like to start a thread identifying the things that make us say....hmmmmm, I never new that! As for me: I realized there are zerk grease fittings on the engine hatch lifting rams. Another is that there is a big breaker for the windlass on the forward bulkhead in the engine room. Anyone else?

I learned yesterday that the guest head mirror is attached with two snaps on the bottom with a piano wire hinge on top. It flips up. I can't understand why anyone would mount that thing that way since there is nothing behind it. These boats remain a mystery in so many ways.

I learned just last weekend, after owning the boat a couple months shy of 10 years, that there is a GFI plug under the guest head sink. I always thought it was weird that there wasn't any power in there but I just attributed it to being a wet head.
