420 DA Thread

@Lovichka 420 DA , re engine sync issue: My "methodology is to use both throttles to get the engines where I want them, say 2200 rpm. Then, I hit the "SYNC" switch, and then move the starboard throttle stick all the way to the stops. I am now "fine tuning" my rpms with the Port stick only. I was told to do it this way as it doesn't make the Glendinning Engine Synchronizer works so hard through the throttle up. Make sense?

PS..Enjoy your baby. She's a winner!

Thx so very much. I'll try exactly that tomorrow!

Can the SC5000 System View display be easily replaced with the VV4 or VV7? I'm about to take delivery of a 2004, gas with the 8.1's, but the SC5000 display is on its last legs, along with everything else at the helm. Was planning out the helm upgrade and would like to replace it.

If it can be easily replaced, does anyone know which kit I'll need? Thanks!

** Master Stateroom - Indirect - Blue Rope Lights**

hi all… I am looking to replace the blue rope lights that are under the edge of the bed in the master state room… The ones that are controlled with the light switch labeled “indirect”.

I can’t figure out exactly where the blue rope light is wired in to the boat wiring and whether I need to take apart the whole bed to get to where the wire is spliced… If anybody has replaced the blue rope lights in their master state room and can provide some hints or tricks or tips… I would greatly appreciate it!

I took the valance off .....it’s just held on by the screws you can see after you remove the mattress. The wire connection is on the port side of the bed

Does anyone have any experience with replacing the retractable sun shade in the salon? Mine finally gave out....

I've been researching the same, since my new to me 420 has issues with both of them. It's on the to-do list. I believe I've located the manufacturer, but haven't gotten any further than that.

It looks like the OEM was OceanAir, which is now Dometic:
https://www.dometic.com/en-us/us/products/climate/blinds

This site seemed to be a decent supplier:
https://www.ahoycaptain.com/oceanair.html

Let me know how you make out with replacing or repairing. I'll be tackling this at some point, as I work to bring the boat back up to my standard.

Sorry I can't answer your question but if you come up with a solution please post it back here as I'm sure several of us have the same issue. Thank you.

The shades in the 2007 44DA are indeed OceanAir so likely the same as earlier boats. Looks like they were bought out by Dometic, I was able to get parts directly from OceanAir before then. When I googled thier old address it still listed the phone number as 802-362-5258, they are located in Manchester Vermont.

Yes Blueone, exactly that compartment. Thank you for everyones suggestions but I want to tell you it is NOT associated with anything forward of my wet floor compartment. No leaky shower mixing valve, no AC condensation overflow in stateroom or salon AC's, no sump box overflow, no manifold drip or leak....nothing. In fact every other underfloor compartment is bone dry. However, Please have a look at the above pics I took after drying the compartment and putting down paper towels to find the water source. Thoughts???

@brewster16 - did you ever fix this water problem? I am having the same problem.

Does anybody happen to know the size of the forward deck hatch in the master stateroom? Is it 17x17? I need to replace both the hatch riser arms.

On another note...

We took delivery this past weekend! The graphics company surprised us by quickly showing up to change the name. After a thorough cleaning, to the admiral’s standards, and provisioning we managed to get her out and enjoy a bit as well. Now the projects begin!

@Jason_Peters - I am on the boat now ... the inside of the frame measures somewhere between 20" and 21" ... so I assume the hatch size may be 18" x 18"?

Hmmm, you maybe onto something. The Taylormade link above lists the frame size for the 18” x 18” hatch as 20 3/4” x 20 3/4”

You know Murphy says I’ll end up ordering the wrong dang ones... lol Thanks for checking.

Congratulations !! A real beauty. Enjoy in good health.

Thanks! Yep, that's the one. Table Rock is a great lake, we used to trailer down there regularly. We settled on LOTO when we decided to move up because we enjoy the variety that the lake offers.
