420 DA Thread

Hello all,
My '05 420 8.1 needs a new Gen water pump impeller cover - does anyone have the part number or hook up for the Kohler??? Thanks I really appreciate the time saving!!!!

Flip it over and use the backside if you have not already.

Thanks, i have done that at the end of the season but it started to cavitate and would not hold suction - i have a new impeller and want to replace the plate if possible.
Thank you.

I posted this in another thread. Sorry for the redundancy...
I am looking at a 2004 420DA with hydro platform. Can anyone tell me about how far away from the boat the platform is when lowered to the waterline? Also I assume one can stop the movement at any point? The platform was factory installed (as I understand it), but I don't know the manufacturer. Thanks!

What happened to your plate? Sorry if I missed it...

I took my plate to a metal fab shop near me. They had a piece of stainless made in no time. It worked great and it was very reasonable priced.

Do you happen to have a fab shop near you?

Sorry I do not have the part number. I have a diesel gen.

I have a GHS on my 420 and it is difficult to step down to the water line. It is probably a 15 inch gap and about 20 inches down when the platform is at water level. I am guessing on both measurements. I am 6'2" and have no problem but it is awkward.

The original ladder on the boat can be put down to rest on top of the platform. The ladder hurts your feet and has no hand hold. We seldom get it out for that reason.

I have pictures I could email or text to show you if you need

Just made my own aftercooler pressure tester. I’ve seen a number of people making these. Local Cummins shop wanted almost $1000 to service. Cost me about $30 in parts. Seems to be holding. Cleaned with brake cleaner and soaked in simple green. Lightly sanded housing and cleaned that as well.

Quick question for those with QSC 500's. What is WOT RPM and fuel burn.

Thanks

what speeds do you run at WOT and what is your cruise speed.

Thanks Mark.. Nice speed increase over the 48..Trying to find some upsides to downsizing for a few years.

We are in the market for an 06-08 44 with the QSC 500's. One option I want is the lift and doesn't seem to be many boats out there with the option.
