420 DA Thread

On to the next project: Salon refrigerator. After reading as much as possible, it appears that the Isotherm Cruise 49 The present unit is toast and is a coolamatic RSD-115.
Has anyone changed out their salon unit with anything that fits without a major headache?

I installed a Cruise 49 in the cockpit when I removed the ice maker. It is much smaller than the OEM fridge I have in the salon....maybe you meant the cockpit?

No, it is the salon refrigerator. 12 volt only.
It’s more than possible that I have the incorrect refrigerator regarding the Cruise 49.
Is there a consensus on a particular refrigerator that people are using as a replacement for the original Coolamatic RSD 115?

Measure and look here....I think I have the same RSD 115....mine is 12v only as well and working good for now. Might going to be a challenge to get it in and out of the cabin door...

Twist like mofo. A piece of rope and a big screw driver twisted onto the hose will help with twisting leverage.

Thanks a million.
That cross reference worksheet is great. It appears that there are two options for the salon fridge:
Isotherm Cuise 130 Elegance
Dometic CRX 111ou/s
Now to see if one is available.

Hey guys. Buddy has a 42 and the Oceanair shade in the salon is broken. He told me he called oceanair and they are no longer making it. Have y’all found a different solution or heard differently?

The temperature control knob to one of my salon fridges is stuck in place. It is the larger fridge to the right of the other one. It won’t become cold enough to put any beverages in it. I first tried to crank it with pliers but did not want to break it. I also unscrewed the whole knob and took it out but it still wouldn’t budge. Any ideas?

Hit it with liquid wrench/WD40 and let it sit then free it up with the knob removed and a pair of pliers, otherwise you'll strip the knob, which the don't make anymore.

Well looks like I will be saying good by to the 420/440 DA group if all goes well, I have learned so much from this forum, thanks all !!
Someone came up and asked if my boat was for sale and like we all answer “boats are always for sale” i threw out what I thought was a fair price and he said sure I’ll pay cash.
I’m taking the girl for one last 2 week trip in northern Lake Michigan before survey and sea trial, wish me luck :)
As fate would have it, my dock neighbors are selling their ‘06 48 DA, the stars are aligning.
Well now it looks like I will NOT be saying good by, buyer backed out at last minute right before survey. No big deal, we love this boat and will hang on to her for a little while longer.
Gotta love the boating life!

I love my cockpit fridge and would never give it up for an ice maker.... that's is what we store in the galley's freezer.

BTW, anyone who wants to know how to get to the port fuel tanks sending unit to service/change it, it's under the round access plate in the above photo!

Also, anyone interested in installing a 110 outlet in the engine room.... that outlet on the back wall is the closest to jump off of.

I just can catch a break…… the salon Ac unit went down again on the island. I ripped it apart and the fan came loose and rubbed up against the housing and stopped……unbelievable
Then I lost the microwave no power It was fine this morning….. I see it has a designated circuit anyone have any insight on the lastest boat from hell gong show I am going thru right now
