460 DA Owners Thread

Tim, the Clarion stereo amp is in the dash just ahead of the steering wheel. I recently went to a JL Audio system, replacing unit, speakers and subwoofer, but not the amp.
If you want to access the amp, you have to remove the lower dash unit. A little tricky but do-able.

the only way i know to get the pocket doors out is to take the jambs off then the door slides all the way out.
John
PS Ray i see you got a the 460.

Take the jamb off? Are you speaking of the side it slides too when it is closed?
I'll take a look at that...wasn't sure the oak jamb was removable on that side.

Thanks

Wolfe our oak jamb had screws securing it. all you need to do is remove one side of the oak either on the door side or the head side then you can remove the door

Great, will check it out tonight. My door slides really hard and isn't plum with the jamb. Would love to adjust this, but couldn't figure out the access to the track etc. The PO did some goofy shims at the track head on one end, but it is really just a "jerry rig" job. One of my OCD pet peeves...LOL

Wolfe if you only need to adjust the plumb of the door you might be able to tighten or loosen the nuts on top of the door where the rollers attach to the door.

Correct....but I need to adjust the rollers that are on the pocket side and can't get a tool to them. The PO shimmed the track at the jamb side downward to try and correct the vertical line...it is closer to plumb but not correct. If I remove the shims from the track, the situation gets worse as the strike side (door panel) goes up and increases the gap at the top. The roller adjustment is also hard to get too...is there a special tool???

This is harder to type and explain than what I see in person...LOL

Tim: I should just motor up to your creek this weekend so we can compare boats. My cockpit stereo doesn’t work at all. Initially, the head unit wouldn’t power up, but after fussing with the connections, I did get it working. Still no sound. I think it is the amp, so I will look into replacing it after a little more troubleshooting to confirm it is not connections - mine is relatively accessible under the helm.

I’m actually at Sassafras with the boat this weekend :)

Hi Guys,
Two water pumps. One keeps tripping and does not run. Did a number of tests and it seems dead. Can we just replace it with a similar one(they don't make that one any more) or do we need two identical pumps. Has anybody used just one bigger one?

I modified from the 2 pumps to a single 5.3 GPM pump this past winter. Worked great, and it also gave me room to install a new accumulator tank in the 2nd pumps place. The factory accumulator tank was behind the fridge and was "worn out", so it was a perfect time to do a small update.

Took these pics yesterday...no screws in the jamb...I am once again baffled as to how this would come out and give me enough room to get the sliding panel out.o_O

Wonder if they simply glued the ba-Jesus out of it??? There isn't a nail head or screw visible.

Wolfe, great idea to get a new accumulator tank and put it where the other pump was. Keep all the water stuff together. What tank did you get?

Wolfe . I actuallythought I was crazy so I came to the boat to verify my 01 has screws. I knew I wasn't crazy..trying to send a picturebut image is too large will try to resize it

I just got back from the boat and our trim does in fact have exposed screws on both jambs. So it would be an easy removal for me if necessary. Not sure how they fastened yours....

Tim,
I checked the access to the Clarion amp on my boat and while I can reach it from below, it would be a lot easier just to remove the center dash panel to access it. The reason I mention this is because I think you guys jinxed me. My amp gave up the ghost this weekend and I will be replacing it with a JL to match the other equipment.
