460 DA Owners Thread

Interesting. It might be water damage, but from where? Just inside that cupboard there is an access panel, no plumbing there. Not sure what is in there but it's behind those cracks. Might be sun damage through the overhead hatch??
What year is the boat? It has the Hampton maple option like ours. We've enjoyed it because it's a bright interior.

The Vitricor could be cracking from excessive heat/moisture?? Maybe the previous owner ran a coffee maker in that area and the steam rose up towards that corner? I know when we make coffee, the maker is at the outside edge of the counter to avoid this issue.

Here is a GREAT link to more Vitricor/Nuvacor information and how to repair.

As for the single photo, it may be because you aren't a "paid" sponsor?? Not sure, just a guess possibly...If you get the boat, it will be worth joining at any paid level. I know I have gotten more than my money's worth from all the GREAT HELP and feedback from other boaters on this forum. A great investment with any Sea Ray you may own. (I am not a paid spokesperson...LOL)

Good luck with the purchase, the 460 is a GREAT boat!

Here is a link to a guy that does this sort of repair, or sells the material. https://restorationmarine.com/

If you click through the first 7 pictures on the home page, you will see a 460 Sundancer counter then fwd. stateroom. If you go to this link, you will see exactly what you are dealing with. https://restorationmarine.com/separation-repair

So, it can be fixed...:)
Thanks for that reply. It is an interesting hypothesis. The second picture would have shown similar but worse damage to the lower cabinet. Making guesses with my wife I thought maybe something spilled in the upper cabinet and didn't get noticed for a few days. Regardless of the cause, it is nice to know it is repairable fairly easily.

Have any of you 460 owners swapped out the rope lighting in the cabin to new LED rope light that changes from white to colors?

If so what brand did you use?

Thanks.
where you able to just plug and play with the old connection and still use the power switch?
Sort of...the wall/power switch still works but I had to place the LED controller in line with it. So, when the switch is turned on, the power goes to the led control box allowing you to change the colors with the remote. Pretty simple set up.

I did however have to gain access on the sofa side behind the DC panel. This was the easy way to go. On the port side, I removed the speaker above the galley counter and installed the led controller behind there. 1 switch still controls both sides, but with the 2 controllers I can actually have either side on/off or whatever.

You are the master!! Thanks

Depends on your use, doesn't it?

However when we do take guests on a longer trip, or even for a weekend, then that room becomes a bedroom in minutes. We deploy the bed arrangement and I usually have "the bed" out from the aft wall 10-12" to make it into a full queen size arrangement. I do that by tightly rolling a couple of blankets, setting them alongside the "mattress" against the aft wall and then covering the whole thing with a memory foam and then cover it with a bottom sheet (very comfortable arrangement). After the trip is over and the guests depart, it's back to being used as a second salon with a couch for seating.

Hi Jaws! So after your guests leave, where do you stow the memory foam? Dock box?

When guests board the boat thru the transom door, they frequently hit the light switch just aft of the door. Any ideas here?

Happened a few times to us too but more of a concern after we depart the boat. I have a great dock neighbor who notices it. However once the festoon bulbs are changed to LED, there is little power draw or heat. The old halogen bulbs got pretty hot if a shoe or sandal was beside the lamp.

Finally received the new latch today...This looks so much better than the plastic Perko!!!
Just needed a little bit of sanding for the new latch to fit the cutout. I used a small drum sander with my drill...easy!!!

That looks great! Ordering one now.

Here's an esoteric question for you Wolf-what amperage is the "cigarette lighter" 12 v power port in my transom storage? It keeps blowing my power plug with a 3A fuse...
