We have a phifertex back sunshade and it lays against it perfectly when the hatch is open...

Hi all,
We had a great ten days on the boat.

Question. I have the westerbeke diesel gen. This is the first time it has done this on us.
When running both ACs and fridge it loaded up and was putting out lots of black smoke... to the point there was diesel soot all over the side of the boat and in the water It seem to be running under choke or something. When I turn off one of the AC it took the load off and would run normal.
Fuel and air filters are clean.

Any thoughts on what this could be?

Not sure if the diesel versions have this but check the governor oil level.

Certainly sounds like it was overloaded. What is its KW rating, and how many amps were you pulling? Amps X volts = KWs...

There's an area just above the hinge on the transom hatch to mount the flag staff. Depends on your canvas. I'll take a picture next time...

If it’s the same as my 01 it’s behind the back panel inside the lower left cabinet in the guest cabin. Left of the washer/dryer.

Happy Wednesday all!
The Admiral and I have decided, (Well, it was actually her idea), we want to move up. We are ISO of a 2000-2002, 510 Sundancer. Preferably a freshwater boat on the Great lakes. There are currently 2 listed on boattrader.com and the more expensive one is sold and the less expensive one is in sad shape. The ad says "maintained with an open checkbook". The boat hasn't been touched in 2 years, and it shows. I even have the survey from 2 years ago, and it is a markedly different boat today than what the survey.

We missed the other boat by a day. So, the search is on!

If any of you on the Great Lakes hear of a 510 going up for sale, I would appreciate it if you reached out to me.

Good luck to you Wolf. You are the inspiration for more than a few 460 projects.
Our good friend had a 510DA. It was huge boat for a 51 footer, with abundant headroom in the cabin. Tall boat meant some windage however and his lacked the bow thruster. So he went to a nice 55DA with all the toys. The CAT 3196 in the 510 ran well in the time he had it.

Thanks for the info. I have 2 friends with the 510 and we love it as they do! The spacious salon is a huge draw for us as we live aboard virtually all summer!

Update: Just spoke with a broker friend and he just took the listing of a very clean 510. We are going to see it tomorrow. the funny thing is that we saw it2 weeks ago when we looked at the other 2. This one is just down the dock from the other 510 that we were sadly disappointed with.

Just got back from the boat. I forgot to get the brand name of the toilet in the guest head. I need to rebuild the part that close the bowl off when flushed. Anyone know what brand it is and best place to source the parts.
