460 DA Owners Thread

Well Gents,
It has been a GREAT 6 years on the 460 Forum. There are so many GREAT boaters on this thread and I have learned a lot by being a part of it. THANK YOU!
The paperwork is done on the purchase of the 510 and sale of the 460. Just awaiting the survey on Monday, then we make the move up. We found an absolute beauty of a 510 in Northern Michigan and we finalized the deal on my wife's birthday, so that was an added Bonus. I am not sure who is more excited, me or her.

It's been great and I will check in from time to time! Thanks to all of you again and enjoy the rest of your summer boating season!

Thank you Bill,
You have been a great asset to the 460 form and have helped me out alot. . The 510 is a beauty. Make sure you share pictures from time to time.

Bill,
Congratulations!
Our forum will definitely miss your ideas, inspirations and extensive knowledge of the 460DA. Thank you! Good luck with the 510; it's a BIG 51 footer.
Please keep an eye on us, LOL.

I have s 2003 w/hard top wanting to replace the canvas soon. From what I have seen so far it seems difficult getting it to look good. Or as good as a camper style can look. And, not have so many poles and supports. Anyone have pictures of their enclosures I could use as an example. Thanks!

Mine is cantilevered. Happy with the look.

I realize mine is a 390 but you get the idea.

Our camper has minimal vertical canvas and has a nice clean look to it. Not cantilevered because it's a large area. The top is Seamark, I believe. Dual Sunbrella and Stamoid. Our first camper got 8 years of service and this one is on its 7th. Normally we don't have the side flaps partially open like in the photos.
Strataglas is heavy/thick. Takes about 4 minutes to zip out the panels and a little longer to zip them back in. Because of the large cockpit, everyone seems to hang out on our boat. In the Great Lakes at least, a camper is the way to go for this boat.
Cockpit heat/AC is a must.

Any advice on engine room blowers? One of mine is starting to squeal. Going to change both. Currently have the shurflo yellow tail. They seem to move a lot of air but seem loader than they should be IMO. Curious if anyone has found something they feel is quiet and still moves the air. I read that these are rated at 220 CFM. The seaflo says it’s 270 CFM. But it says for intermittent use only…
Just go back with the yellowtail and hope they’re quieter when new?

I installed these and they were GREAT!

Jabsco 35770 Series Flexmount Blower, Continuous Duty, 4 inch, DC 250 CFM

if you do this, you will need to get a larger breaker for the DC panel located in the port side cabinet.

I saw those too and was curious. SO much more expensive and higher amp draw. What made you get those? Do you think they’re quieter than the online style?

I found them to be quieter for sure. And they are a constant run blower. Which means I don’t have to worry about burning out the little bearings in the other smaller in-line blowers. But yes, they are more expensive and yes they move a lot of air. It was just me and my OCD as well lol

Bill,
Congratulations and thank you for all of your knowledge and contributions here!

Helped my buddy today install his new AC unit. Super quiet. Love the MarinAir stuff. This is next on my list.

A lot of people asked about extending the master bed for taller people… There you go

I’m considering upgrading mine to them. What do you like about them?
Quiet, sealed up well, gauges on the bigger units to see potential issues easily, price, remote and wifi controlled.

Master cabin reading lights. Who in the world thought that right above your head, shining in your eyes was great placement?? Has anyone replaced or moved them? I mean, I have to wear a hat in bed!!!

That's next on my list too. Significant difference over the "CruiseAir" in terms of air output, amperage draw, etc?
I installed that brand for my cockpit air a few years ago. Worked great!
