I am looking at the 2003 to 2006 460DA's and was told by a salesman that the Cummins 480CE have a problem with dropping valves and costing up to $25,000 to repair. I'm a farmer and have all kind of diesel motors in equipment and semi trucks and have never had a problem with any kind of diesel engines such as dropping valves. Has anyone have knowledge of this problem or is that just a salesman talking? Thank you for any input.
Fixing any major problem with marine engines is costly but $25K is more like the cost for a total rebuild top to bottom. Especially since the cost of a factory RECON engine is about that - my M3 450s were $24K each.
