I guess what I’m trying to determine is can you see the contour bottom on your E120 screens or do you just see the depth in a numerical reading ? I am replacing both screens and radar with new Raymarine Axiom Pro 12 and Mangum radar my installer says to see the contours on the screens I need a second transducer.

I only got depth on my E120, and last winter when I changed over to the Axiom Pro 12's my installer added an additional sonar transducer that allows me to see the bottom in 3D. I think they call it real vision.

I'm ditching my E120 and Sea Ray Navigator for twin Garmin 7612's winter project. Got them on sale at BOE. The only transducer appears to be part of the smartcraft system, I believe signal goes to the vessel view 1st then relays to the Sea Ray Navigator via NMEA 0183. I have no depth on my E120. Gonna be fun reconciling Smartcraft, NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 all playing nice together. The existing Fusion N2K audio remotes display nmea vessel data like depth etc on the radio remote controls, pretty cool. I also have the Garmin quatix smartwatch that receives nmea vessel info, so I can see depth on my wrist while at the bow dropping anchor.

I looked at the AXIOM/pro but was underwhelmed. I like the glass cockpit look instead of hybrid. IMHO once you use Garmin for a while, Raymarine seems hokey, 3D charts and satellite cartography seem blurry or low res to me unless zoomed far out. G2 vision charts with satellite maps is more impressive to me, but must be shut off during bright days as it makes the screen too dark to view with sunglasses on.

TV Replacements - 2007 48 DA. One of my first upgrades I’d like to tackle is to replace the 4 onboard televisions. One is inop and the other 3 are dated and seem like a simple swap. Any advice on recommended replacements or which to stay away from. Not interested in having integrated DVD as that ship has sailed...

When I did mine last year I purchased the VIZIO - 24" - LED - D-Series - 1080p - Smart - HDTV's for for the two staterooms (these were the largest that would fit), and cockpit. For the saloon I bought a Sony 40" LED-1080p-Smart-HDTV and mounted it above where the standard TV was with a Rocketfish™ - Tilting TV Wall Mount for 32"-70" TVs - Black, and then added a Polk Audio - 2.1-Channel Soundbar System with Wireless Subwoofer - Black and mounted the sound bar directly below the TV and the subwoofer is under the cushion that has the vacuum hose and attachments. I was able to plug it in to the receptacle for the Beam vacuum that's under the corner cushion. I sourced everything from Best Buy.

This is the only picture I could find of the upgrade in the saloon for now. The rocketfish mount has two releases with pull strings behind the TV if you need to take it down for any reason (Which the installer of my helm electronics needed to do). There's a little more than 1" clearance from the top of the TV to the ceiling. It locks the unit securely in place, but it since it's a universal mount the TV could still slide side to side, so I added a stainless screw on each side of the rail to prevent it from sliding. I'm stored indoors, and can take as many pictures of any of the installs as you'd like. You can see the old Clarion components, and DVD player on the right. Those were replaced with the Intellian components, and Sony DVD/Blue Ray/USB units.

Would anyone have the parts catalog link to the 48 DA or have it saved where the can send the pdf? I had found it online but can’t seem to find it again...

I have all the manuals, and the parts manual is almost 10MB. If you'd like to PM your e-mail address I'll send it to you via dropbox.

Very similar numbers, If were on a long trip I like to cruise at 75% load (2300 RPM @ 25 MHP) See performance pics.
What kind of issues have you experienced or upgrades have you made since you purchased your 48?

JB,

I just realized I forgot to post some better numbers for you last summer. I had the props reconditioned, and the photos below were taken on a trip up North on Lake Michigan with full tanks, about 1/2 water, and the 730 lb dinghy on the back. We'll have to see how this year pans out as I reached out to ACME and they suggested having them mill a set of 25" x 29" variable pitch props, as my EQY's kept getting cavitation burns in some of the roots.

So I ordered LED bulbs to convert everything over but the parts catalog had the wrong bulbs for my cockpit under the hard top. I didn’t think to pull one out to see what they actually were but they weren’t the Perko 70-0 style. If anyone knows off hand what they are please advise. I have 6 as shown in the pic.
I also broke 3 of the 6 springs on the lights in the heads (1 on each light). Anyone know of the if those are replaceable or am I buying 3 new fixtures?

Does anyone have any knowledge on how the rudders are installed and sealed on a 2005-2008 48DA? My port side has quite a bit of play and is leaking into the bilge, the marina tech asked if they had packing glands, but I'm thinking it might be a bearing and seal. They come in Types A-Z online. Just curious if anyone has come across this thanks in advance.

I had a leak on my starboard side last year, and only had to tighten the nuts.

Here is exact description from the parts manual for #11 as identified below:
STUFFING BOX, RUDDER W/PACK 1.5"DIA STUFFING BOX, PACKING ONLY 1/4" "STERNLON"(PART OF STUFFING BOX 587147)
SEAL KIT, SPARE SHAFT STUFFING BOX 1.5"W/TOOL

Does anyone know what they mean by w/tool? My 320 has the exact same part, and I need to correct a leak. I tried using a tool from West Marine, but that tool and I were unable to move the nut.

My mechanic had two wrenches that look very similar to this. Although they might have been slightly modified.

Does anyone know where to get the piping that makes up the trim on the white upholstery on the cockpit seating? Does anyone know what style or number the Dark Blue piping is or where it came from?

Most good Marine upholstery shops can match it to OEM. They did an exact match and manufacturer for me last year.

Has anyone had to replace / repair the master shower mixer valve? Access is a bit of a challenge. Also I don't have the Corian-like backing where the mixer handle mounts - not sure if access is different with that piece in place. My chrome mixer handle and round plate mounts directly to the fiberglass shower wall. Here's an image with the Grohe mixer handle and plate removed. Note the mounting plate on the inside of the shower wall holding the valve. Any lessons learned here would be appreciated.
