480 DB Owners Club

My Buddy had a 48-01, he sold it, has a sunbrella cover the wraps the bridge windows and covers the entire bow. we never had it on the boat, so don't have a lot of details on it, if someone is interested we can spread it out and get some more details and pictures.

I’m interested, can you send some pics, any idea how much$?

Potentially interested. It’s a winter cover?

I'm not sure it's a winter cover, when he bought the boat it was in Ft. Myers, may just be more of a sun cover. I'll try and get some pictures, as for price, he's open to an offer

pictures attached, it is a sunbrella cover, it wraps the front and sides from the hardtop down. look like you would need to add snaps along the windows at the bridge, then it has straps that cover over the rail and clip back to the top, also has poles to keep the center up. Was on the boat 1 time when he bought it in Florida. never used up here. Looks new. I was say it was more of sun cover, maybe good for inside winter storage to keep it clean? Price we have no idea. Make offer.

Anyone have any luck in trying to have frigerator repaired? Not cooling or making any sound. Just light comes on when open door. Thought about replacing both units with drawer style, but pretty expensive. Looks nice, though and more storage room. Was thinking of just having the unit repaired. Few SubZero service centers near me. Anyone have luck repairing? Any tips in getting the unit out? I have wood floor in front of the units. Thanks. Dave

Defender is offering Salt-Away on sale. Has anyone used it? We run offshore a lot and always wash the boat down with Maguire's soap and water after a run in salt water. Is Salt-Away better somehow? Thanks!

Has anyone experienced excessive condensation from the fridge? I have been getting little pools of water drawing from the lower corner of the fridge - annoying. Is it a sign its on the way out?

I haven't had any problems with my fridge, but I had condensation causing severe icing in my Sub Zero freezer. I called a Sub Zero tech who said my freezer door seal was worn out. He replaced the door seal, but that did not solve the problem. He came back and said he needed to adjust the door alignment. He couldn't access the door fasteners to align the door without removing the cook top, which I did not let him do because my cook top is glued in place. I finally fixed the problem by removing the arm that links the outer cosmetic door and the freezer door and fastening a large spacer in between the two doors. When the outer door locks shut the spacer applies pressure on the freezer door to tightly seal it. I had to adjust the size of the spacer a bit to ensure that the spacer was thick enough to seal the inner freezer door but not so thick that it prevented the push-button lock from working properly.

Try replacing your seal and/or check the alignment of your door. You can order a new seal from your local Sub Zero parts dealer. Or try my jury rig. It worked for my freezer.

Maybe different fridge and all that but.....we had a problem with water draining from the bottom right corner of our fridge. I emptied the fridge and while looking everythng over I found the condensation/drip catcher was full. My wife didn't realize it was there and hadn't been emptying it.

I did replace the gasket, no difference. I like the pressure idea, makes sense. The condensation has to be the result of warm air mixing or leaking into the cooler air right? I’m not sure how it could relate to any degradation of the fridge itself - anyone? I do plan to replace but it’s on a long list - and don’t want any surprises!

I couldn't start my genny last weekend. Starter wouldn't even turn. I'm new to this Onan, so please let me know your procedures. Tech was on the boat yesterday and said it started just fine. Switch was on at the panel, and I held starter button in the up position for a few seconds until green light stopped blinking. Do I hold it longer? Worked that way 3 weeks ago when I used it. What am I missing? Mike

Turn the main battery solenoid switch on, put the 'ON' switch on, depress the start/preheat switch...hold till generator starts. It doesn't turn over until the pre-heat cycle is complete

So colder out means longer pre-heat cycle...Thanks Woody. M

So we got really tired of the standard slant backs on our 480DB. We had an overhang made so that now when sitting on the back bench, you don't have to lean forward. This is a big improvement for us, due to where our home port is and the amount of bugs / mosquitos that come out every night. We also had screens made for the two sides, allowing a nice airflow through the cockpit.
