480 DB Owners Club

Anyone know the model number of the ACR spotlight that would be in a 2004 480DB and best option for replacing the bulbs? Thanks!

Thanks! 12 volt, I'll check them out.
It’s an RCL100D. Climbed up there and both bulbs started working. Not very bright. Is there any kind of LED bulb upgrade?

I had to replace a bulb 3 years ago and the $65 for a 24V bulb seemed high. Had no luck finding an LED. They now sell LED spot lights, so it may be time to search again. I asked ACR about higher wattage bulbs, but they said their relays would not handle it...

Ok y'all, I am looking for the controller for the lower cockpit lights. I talked with Searay and they said the 2 switches run to a controller, but I have been unable to find and they don't really know where it was installed. Anybody replaced theirs yet?

If it is the same as the 52DB then the "controller" is simply a latching relay. My boat was involved in a lightning strike and the lighting systems were fried including the controllers that are operated by a momentary switch rather than a rocker type switch. I found suitable replacement latching relays made by InPower - The part number is VCM-01. Del City has them in stock for around $55 each. These, in the picture, are the original ones on my boat which are located behind the solon circuit breaker panel.

Thanks what I'm looking to find. I pulled my salon breaker panel and did not see them. The search goes on.

I don’t know where the breaker is, but check behind the breakers under the steps leading up bridge. Seems logical to me.

If you find it let us know. (2004 480DB) I'm looking for it and I think there is one for the Bridge lights that also has double toggle switches -- I'm going to trace the wires next week and will let you know what I find. Also, anyone know where to access the blower motor for the air horns.

On the 500DB and 52DB the circuit breaker panel is next to the solon entry door and the switches for the lighting are between the door jamb and the circuit breaker cabinet. The lighting controllers on the 52DB are not obvious inside of the cabinet; they are mounted low and left on a panel in the back of the cabinet. They were not easy to get to and change. If you end up getting the VCM-01's let me know and I'll provide you the wiring diagram to install them.

The blower motor for the air horn is located strbd side of helm. It is a small electric canister. I have the AC unit mounted inside my helm, so when looking toward the bow, it is on the left from the AC unit.

Thanks!! I’ll look there, I can hear it, but haven’t found it. This is a great forum!

Something I've noticed with the 480. At 12-1500 rpm there is cavitation before the turbos spool. When I watch in my engine room, I see some vibration of the shaft. It is also noticeable when spilling the boat and one engine is forward and the other reverse. Feels like the boat is shuttering. Anyone else?

I definitely have the shudder while spinning, others have mentioned it before. The only time I'm at 12-1500 is passing through to 2000 RPM so can't say I've noticed!

If you are willing, Next time you are spooling up do it slowly and see if it occurs. It would be interesting if it is just cavitation or not. Thanks.
