You won't like the TaylorMade price of a new latch assembly - ~$3300!!
Yeah, I remember reading this. For some reason they told my marina "only" $1300. Maybe that is just for the latch. If I can figure out how to get it apart, I can have a local machine shop add onto the catch I hope. Or else rig the frame up a little higher.

my flooring is the color of your edges I bet that’s what they gave you.
Mine looks similar in color to yours.
Got the boat out of the water yesterday between lightning storms. Blocked and level.
Found the zinc's completely eaten away and major erosion on the port running gear. I think it was the POS that was in the slip next to me the marina finally got removed several months ago. They are going to run some tests on the water around the slip to see if anything else is leaking. Just heartbroken over it... Looks like a new prop is in order. The interesting part is there were no barnacles at all on the port running gear but a mild build up on the starboard side. Regardless moving forward on removing all of the running gear and on with the shaft and strut re-alignment.

that’s awful. Sorry you have to deal with that.

Ouch!! that corrosion is hard to look at, many boat bucks. Thanks for sharing the photos. One of the guys on the dock uses one of these when they travel, home dock has not been a problem, https://shockalarm.com/shop/ols/products

However, I do like your hull color, very sharp.

In case you want to be sick...Lock set 5101780 is now $4782.70 and part 703105007 does not exist according to the lady I spoke with at Taylor made this morning. They do not break that lockset down into individual pieces.

I'll send you pics tomorrow of my latch adjustments. I think your idea of having a machine shop make a part is the way to go! I used a dremel tool and cut the notch deeper in my latch...l

Full day today props, shafts, and struts pulled from the boat; heavy stuff.
Confirmed two bent struts so I'm happy it is relatively easy to repair.

Can your prop shop straighten your struts? I didn't have any luck finding one to do mine in TN, so I had to spend 4K for a new one. I saved my bent one, and I may drive it to my FL prop shop and see if they can straighten it - and I'll have a spare that I HOPE I never have to use!!

General Propeller in Bradenton, Fl will be picking up the struts, shafts, couplings, and propellers. They say no problem on bending them back as long as they are not cracked.

Tom,

Any idea what would cause this? Did the previous owner hit something and not realize the extent of the damage and only repaired the props?

We don't know. I damaged the props in the Bahamas in 2019 and as a part of that fix we replaced the cutlass bearings and sent the shafts out to get checked and straightened if required. I did not put it all back together nor was I there. The haul-out for the lightning strike in 2020 is when we found the props very hard to turn and also noticed the ends of the prop shafts 2 inches further apart in the back than at the couplings. This haul-out is to investigate and correct that....as well as the annual full wax job and coat of bottom paint.

That's my FL prop shop. I really like their work!

Tom, sorry to see the issues you’re having to deal with. Will be very interested in how freely the prop shafts turn once all your work is done.

I’ve always liked the tan hull as back in the sixties one of my brother-in-law’s family had a fiberglass Starcraft with tan hull & cream top which I always liked. Our 1999 ski boat is a Supra Comp black & tan which hasn’t been lowered into the water for four years and I just can’t part with her.

Mike - here is my latchplate. I put a flat screwdriver in the slot, loosen the two phillips screws and slide up or down as necessary. I add thread locker to the screws when adjustments are complete...

Thanks Carter. Any idea how much "play" you had there? I'll try this route first. M
Mine was very sensitive to height. If it was too low, you could open the door when locked. If it was too high, it was extremely difficult to open the doo at all...With your door open, lock it, and look at the play the latch has when you try to open a locked door. That's what you have to adjust for.
