hi all,

Just bought a 86 390 sedan. Based on what I have seen the model was only made for 4 years. Thought it might be good if we had a list of 390 sedan owners in one place.

Please post a picture and a few words about your boat. I'll start.

1986 390. Boat was repowered in 1996 with Volvo diesels. Boat also has a custom hardtop.

I don't have the 390, but look at the hull on my boat [355t] and it is same profile. What is the beam on your 390?

beam is listed as 13'11".

I have a 1985 390 Sportfish and have had it for 2 years.
I have had both engines rebuilt with long blocks. 1 last year and the other this year. I also change from Rochester to Eddlebrock carbs which seem to even out the power.

It is great for hanging out on the reef. Not the most fuel efficient beast, but the ride is nice.

It's nice to see some other owners.

do those have dual helms?

Older sedan bridges are hard to come by around here. There may have been two sisterships of mine in the 7+ years I've been on this board and it's predecessor. And I had never seen a 390 Sedan Sport Fish until Nick's (and now Skiwe's).

Mine came with a dual helm when new. When it was repowered the helm in the salon was axed and a cockpit helm station was installed. With the windshield cover always on the lower helm was of little value. I much prefer the horizontal space afforded with the new layout not to mention it was the perfect spot for a TV.

Thanks for the warm welcome RonDDS. I didn't think anyone looked at this thread, it is getting old.

Marty,

There are a lot of us that love our classic Sea Rays... sweet looking ride. Please share more pics if you have them.

Yes, more pics please!

Wow, you guys really care about an old Sea Ray that much? I will snap some photos when I get it back from getting the bottom re-painted. I switched to black. I am also going to put black strips on it instead of the brown, blue and green that is on it now.

I have to flush out the fresh water tank and flush out the ice maker line and install a filter. Probably next week. If you want to see inside photos, I will have to make the bed, darn it. But will.

Jason, I like the little blurb you have about being naked, but if I was naked on my boat the girls at the Yacht Club would not leave me alone!

Heck yeah. You may even snap pics of the "girls in the yacht club" if you wish. We are happy to critique.

Of course we care! This thread is required reading for all greenhorns here on CSR (with ancient SRs). Take your time and peruse.

Remember, when you post to an old thread, anyone who posted to it in the past will likely get an email. Also, most of us use the function "New posts past 24 hrs." So if you posted to a dead thread, it now becomes NEW!

Yeah, pix please!

Definitely post more pictures. I'd love to see how your salon is laid out!

for sure post many pics
we all love our ancient Sea Rays
the better we document them the more advantages we give to the next generation of restorers
you may have seen the thread on my 1960 SR ..I am restoring blind as there is not one photo of one on the internet except the pics of mine.

Mopar:

Have you gone to the Sea Ray site and downloaded the brochure for the 1960 year models?

Not much help here...
1960

Parts manuals start at 1989 and owners manuals start at 1977.

1961 has somewhat better illustrations.
