I have a situation when running my cabin air or heat. With the fan on high, there is only the usual air rushing noise. As I decrease the fan speed, with each lower speed the noise gets louder. Almost a screech as if the fan touches metal. When I increase speed again to max, it diappears.
Any ideas?

Blower bearings are dry. I've not dug into mine, so I can't say if there's anything that you can do short of changing-out the motor.

Thanks. Any way to lubricate the bearing? How difficult is it to replace the motor?

You have two main hurdles; getting the motor out, and then getting it open. Typically, getting to the motor is the worst aspect of the job, so it's not worth trying to save a buck if you don't trust the motor's condition. Those motors usually have plain bushings that are lubed by a cotton-like wick around the bushing under a sheet-metal cover (one at each end). Once you get the motor apart, replenish the wick reservoirs with motor oil. As long as the bushings aren't worn too large, you can salvage the motor by doing this. If you decide to tackle this on your own, please take pictures as you go along to help with others in the same predicament.

Thanks. That is very helpful. Boat is now put away for the winter, so I will attempt to fix it in spring.
