To all of us who transverse the wily and often ridiculous USA/CDN border on the Great Lakes, Niagara and St. Lawrence Rivers (take a look at the nonsense that is West Niagara River border line some time, it defies logic) - there is some good news on the near horizon.

This is how things used to be..... don't land, don't need to report. Then these last few years we have been hearing horror stories of CBSA agents threatening seizure and taking 4-figure credit card fines for pleasure boaters who crossed unwittingly into Canada. Finally, a little common sense.

I like it, we'll be in the islands in august and since I've never been will likely do some exploring but not actually land in canada at any point. We have no problem reporting but it's less of a headache to worry about crossing over the middle of the river and into canadian waters.
